Who else was at outside at 6 (or dawn where you live)? It was heartening seeing our neighbours (probably 7 households across our cul-de-sac) standing outside with the service playing from our phones. Greetings from NZ

Hi our Auzzie cousin across the ditch, we 2 Kiwis remembered our ANZAC veterans with you at our 8am, your 6am. My great great uncle (paternal grandmother's brother) was a sapper (engineer) in the NZ army and one of the first on to the beach at Gallipoli to set up supply lines. His whole group was shot at by a Turk mortor round which landed in heir trench. They were all killed outright, except him but he died later on the army hospital ship in the bay. My maternal grandfather was invalided out of the war just before Passechendeale (a blighty one), hence why my mother and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are alive. We Will Remember Them S & J

To active Armed forces of Australia: Far and wide,young or old,male and female, fully fit or worse for wear. Those who still stand. Those who have fallen. Those who carried a gun. Those who stopped the flow of blood. You trained in harsh conditions,were sent overseas,and endured horrible conditions and an unforgiving enemy in seeking to end communism,fascism and totalitarianism in all its forms. Where ever an evil oppressor had the power to intimidate and frighten an individual. There you were sent. You endured this,for your family and friends,your mates, your values,your belief in freedom, your love of adventure and willingness to learn mateship and sacrifice. Some of you did not return. Some of you came back with demons in the mind. The PTSD. An unwelcome intruder as you tried to work, live and adjust to a new reality. Now in 2020 I hold this light as the sun rises at the end of my driveway. This small phone light. This flag of the country I love. No parade, no crowds, no cheering, sorry I could not do more this year. It seems so pitiful in comparison to what you gave, almost anti-climactic. Its not much. But I’m here guys. What we do in life, echoes in Eternity. Marcus AURELIUS 2020 Anzac day. Thank you for your service all Veterans. -Son of a Long Tan veteran.

Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives ... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours ... You, the mothers who sent their sons from faraway countries, wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk
@OlkanOraldag4 жыл бұрын
This speech has no historical evidence. Ataturk would not call the invaders "heroes" although he mentioned that he was sorry for the young Aussies who died for nothing but British interests.

Lest we forget our fallen, lest we forget their struggle, lest we forget their sacrifice for us all. You all live on within our hearts and our blood. You are true Australians, true men and women. You are all that we have lost and will never have again. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I would not be here if not for you. Your sacrifice has not been in vein, I myself still hold your morals and principles and fight every single day to keep good alive in this sick and corrupt world in 2020. I hold you all in the highest regard and respect! I fight to bring justice for what you fought for every day of my life and I will never stop until my last moments in this earth. Sadly we (the good) are in the minority now and the enemy is in the majority. But like all of you we continue to fight every day to bring Australia back to the true Australia we used to be. The fight is hard, the fight is long, but what you did for us was far more tragic and hard won. This is what makes the good that are left fight so much harder today to ensure everything you fought for is not lost to the sands of time. Good will always prevail! You are evidence of that very fact! Us of the remaining good salute you with tears in our eyes and a heavy weight in our hearts. We need you now more than ever before, though you can't be there to fight for us now, know in your place in heaven we NEVER stopped fighting after you were gone. With love and the highest of renown and respect to you all, thank you for you sacrifice, the ultimate sacrifice of all. Lest we EVER forget Australia!! EVER!

The English-speaking peoples have always stood and fought against absolutism in all its forms, defended justice and personal liberty, respected truth over ideology and dogma. We owe our deepest thanks and respect to all who stood for this at the front line of battle, and to honour those who fell.
