Notice how the blue umbrellas never caught fire somehow right next to the building. Or the 2 blue cars that are almost completely intact in the center of traffic, the paint still intact. why every car around it is a dusty white. Just a Theory but a laser weapon was used and the color blue reflects the laser causing the object not to be harmed....

I’ve never seen such destruction caused by fire. The buildings are completely destroyed, only ashes are left. The temperature must have reached an extremely high level to calcine buildings that way. Fire makes no distinctions and when it attacks, especially in such a catastrophe, it sets fire to everything in its path and we all agree on this. But one question remains: why are some objects (like the blue umbrellas at the beginning of the video) and some buildings practically untouched when everything around them has been completely devastated?

I have lived in Lahaina since the 1990s. I’m still on west Maui this to this day. This is the first drone footage I’ve seen that actually shows the up close details of the streets I’ve walked along for decades. Yes, I cried. Everything I knew is gone, including a few close friends. We are still struggling this Christmas. Lady Lahaina was so caring and loving. She is not gone as her spirit is still felt. I am only 3 miles away from this but watching this seems like I’m miles away. My heart aches so badly. You can’t help but think that there is something way bigger at play here. I will one day be blessed to walk these street again one she is reborn. Im anxiously awaiting for her to awaken. I love her so.

Many condolences.. Before rebuilding, Maui homeowners could learn from the 1993 Laguna Beach fire where only one home in Mystic Hill was the only left untouched by it--was spared due to its construction and landscape design. The house featured double-pained glass which helps keep heat from igniting the draperies inside the house, a tile roof sealed with concrete on the ends to keep sparks out, and stuccoed eves to hide any exposed wood. Landscaping zones of fire resistant plants also helped. Read as much as you can about fire retardant materials to prevent a recurrence. Do not sell your land. If you work as a community and get a trusted single developer who can help rebuilt at a great discount, I believe it will work. Erect a memorial as a reminder of this incident if you can.

@@Nope-sGeez. Did you not read his whole post? Your comment is uncalled for. Okay maybe he didn’t word it with the mention of deaths but he is sincere and you know he is heartbroken about all aspects. Cut him some slack here. I’ve read comments on here with people showing no mercy and blaming the victims. It’s sickening. This person means well.

This is just unreal. Prayers for everyone who lived there and lost it all. I never even got to visit Maui, but I’m sure I’d be sadder if I had because then I’d have actual memories of the place and miss it. Hope the Banyan tree survives.

@stonewallis4373 I think you mean: Then god let evil men make DEWs with the taxpayer’s money and use it against them. Not written in the bible,; but it’s what really happened.

Isn't it amazing how clean the streets and car parks are after ABC news footage of the strong winds blowing all sorts of debris all over the place? Something doesn't add up here. Care to explain??

I remember 9/11, tens of thousands of people all day all night looking for people. Non-stop for two years. Where's all the people looking for the missing. It's completely void of anybody.

Such a devastating loss of life! It looks like any structure that had a large-enough parking lot around it stood a better chance of being spared by the fire although they still got singed. It's almost like having a moat of asphalt serving as a firebreak. Hopefully people sought refuge in such locations.

My wife and I are from Ohio. We have been to Maui a few times. Lahaina is my wife's favorite place in the world to be. We would always take at least one day where I would go snorkeling somewhere and my wife would go to Lahaina to shop and hang out at some of the coffee shops. We would always eat at Cool Cat restaurant right beside the Banyan tree. I feel so bad for these people. There was a lot of homeless people in that area. How are those people identified? I pray for Maui and there people.
