As an honorably discharged Army medic and retired corrections officer I know what kind of future this predator is facing. He deserves everything and it still won't be enough. I used to believe inmates were sent to prison "as" punishment for their crimes and now I believe it's "for" punishment.

The sad fact is that men often think they're alone in it and keep it hidden until years later. We've listened to a couple of grown men (30s and older) who went through it, and in certain cases (for instance Indian boarding schools) it's rather common. As I've told others, your willingness to talk about it is a sign that you've traveled towards the healing (usually never complete) that is needed, and I applaud you for that. Your voice is needed - to help other men who were abused as kids. For others who'd like to help, a non-critical listening ear is absolutely necessary and must be developed. There are also men who were not abused sexually or physically, but severely damaged mentally or emotionally, and that is common (and as a general rule, women in this culture have it worse). I wish we could shut down all of the fundamentalist and authoritarian churches, as the harm they do is so severe. Thanks for speaking up - you often never know how much your own story could help another!

No, if you've been wronged it's an obligation to tell the authorities in order to not only get justice for yourself but to protect others who might also be harmed. Anyone who doesn't do so is complict in the crimes comitted against others in the futures. While children can be given a pass of a sort, adults especially should be charged as well for complict behavior of the rapist if they dont report and he/she goes on to harm others. Did you know over 60% of rape accusations in one town were proven to be completely false, usually due to a woman trying to hide infidelity? In the army I saw it nearly a dozen times, good soldiers careers nearly ruined because a girl they slept with remembered the morning after that she was married. So no, I have zero sympathy for women who do not report their attacks/wronging. Be strong, demonstrate character, protect other women, protect innocent men who don't have to defend unfair accusations, and report you've been harmed WHEN you've been harmed...not decades later when there isnt the faintest scrap of evidence.

Abc didn’t uncover it themselves, but they are one of the first mainstream media news outlets in the US to break the story to the public. All of this was blown wide open to ex members and current members of the congregation of the 2x2’s or “the truth” -as members refer to it, in March of 2023, when a highly respected overseer of the western US died under suspicious circumstances for a church overseer and was as a result investigated by the local jurisdictions and found to be in possession of large amounts of cash, as well as inappropriate (for a man in his position) correspondence with female subordinates and members who he was found to have had a history of abusing in a myriad of ways. Despite other church leaders and overseers being informed of his wrong doings, the decedent was still given a funeral with the highest honors afforded in the church, along with his personal laptop and cellular devices attempted at being erased and subsequently hidden and not relinquished to the proper authorities for several months during the active investigation. All of this news was communicated to a very select few elite families in the cult, and one of those families leaked the information to the ex members & current members, which essentially opened the flood gates. Members & ex members & even former workers, started reporting in mass numbers about their own abuses at the hands of church overseers, other workers, elders, and church members. Decades of largely sexual abuses of men, women, and children and their coverups came to light within a matter of months, and still keep coming. There are 1000’s of credible allegations & reports at this point, and the FBI is actively investigating the cult nationwide. I was 4th generation born and raised in this religious cult, and thankfully left years ago as I became an adult. The news of all of this widespread abuse came as a bit of a shock, but when I examined even my own experience with the cult, I realized just how many abusive situations & coverups I was even privy to as the child of an elite family, myself. Abusers often become teachers, scout leaders, coaches, and religious leaders, etc. All of these positions have great people who are there for the right reason. And, all of them have abusers. It's similar for people who want to abuse power. They're attracted to positions that have some kind of power, like politicians, police and HOA boards. Wise organizations will set up checks and balances in their structure that identify and weed out abusers.
