She loved him. She was enamored by him. He was 13 years older. Her father went to bed with many women and she was raised with that mindset with no conviction. So she was happy to have him. No one knows the human heart, not even ourselves. Only God does. It is so complex. She did her best to support him. She even said " a woman always adapts." That was a common mindset of the 50's and 60's . She speaks in this interview of Forgiveness. Infidelity was something she was able to look past. A woman's heart holds a lot of complexities. The men does too, but they somehow can just screw over and over without thinking about how it hurts the wedded wife. I believe she was inherently good but because of Catholic influence had no real conviction and it was easy for her to have an affair outside of marriage out of fear, out of need, out of whatever. People never seem to recognize that there are real Spirits from the Underworld / the Devil that influence every human no matter how strong a Christian they are. I believe she did the best she could. He had spirits of adultery and possibly brought them into the marriage and that's why Jacqueline had affairs.

Jackie loved JFK very much. She knew about his “other women” - but she was also very confident in her role as JFK’s wife, and (in her own words) “I always knew that he loved me so much more than any of that”.

But for her to refuse to get cleaned up and change her clothes before standing with former VP Johnson and his wife as he was sworn in as President by telling her Secret Service Agent “no, let them see what they have done.” And then at his funeral she insisted on walking behind his casket down the street even after both Johnson and her SS Agents pleaded with her not to do it for safety reasons. Her husband had just been assassinated so they didn’t know what would happen and if her or their children were in danger. Jackie Kennedy has been through an incredible amount of trauma, much more than most people, and for her to keep going and have her children be her strength is amazing!! I love Jackie. She got a lot over criticism when these tapes were released because she insulted people and had old fashioned ideas. The ideas were what she was raised to believe. Even Caroline said she was shocked at some of the things her mom said because they didn't match up at all to Jackie's beliefs later in life and some of the people she seemed to have a distaste for became role models and friends later on. People should remember that the opinions she is stating are from just one scene in her short life. A scene that occurred nine moths after her son died and four months after her husband was assasinated in front of the world. Because of this I can't imagine that she is particularly overjoyed at this point in her life. She may have has a negative view of things.But she carried on and got older and actually was a role model for independent women by the time Onassis died.

In this particular recording, she was on heavy sedatives. But in general, that was the personal she gave to the media/world--she was taught that women should play sorta dumb. But she was extremely smart and sharp as a tack. She actually didn't talk like that around her family and friends, I have read in several books.

And how many accounts have you read of her actions during that time in Dallas -- that you would come up with such a conclusion? I wouldn't say that at all. As I recall regarding one instance, she felt she had to stay strong or else the doctors wouldn't let her into the emergency room to be close to her husband.

JFK had an an amazing smile which could light up any room like a ray of sunshine and he was so handsome. Despite his extra marital affairs, Jackie always held all the cards with John because she was intelligent, charming and witty so his affairs were always going to be meaningless pastimes.

Jackie told her good friend, Carly Simon, that she knew about JFK’s “other women”. Jackie also said that she felt very confident as JFK’s wife, and knew (in her own words) “that he loved me so much more than any of that”. This is in Carly Simon’s autobiography.

Jacqueline Kennedy the woman that left her aunt and her cousin live in squalor until her image was jeopardize by the press telling the story to the world! She is the type of wealthy people society detests because she was selfish! I care less if she dressed formal or descent like all first ladies do, I care about the quality of humans that people are and you should care too! We should be careful what we admire and who we admire and why. If we want a better world we need to stop thinking that a person is good because she wears ugly hats that are expensive!

I think you all live in a dream world. A REAL man would recognize his wife's strengths and not take her for granted. Its about a mutual respect. If women feel like their husband isn't making a good choice why shouldn't she speak up. I as a daughter would talk to my father about politics. It was the only thing he would talk about.

Mrs. Kennedy recorded those in 1964. Her closest friends thought it would be good for her to put her memories on tape. They suggested she do this with renown historian Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr., a family friend and former Kennedy Administration counselor. She agreed with the caveat that he do nothing with the material without her permission. She never gave it, and Schlesinger honored that, even after her death in 1994. After Schlesinger died in 2007, his family discovered the tapes

Why did she have a British-type accent?
@christiangainey12239 жыл бұрын
It's not British. It's a New England boarding school accent. Many wealthy educated people and celebrities had this way of speaking back then because wealthy people tended to send their children to top boarding schools in the Northeastern United States.
@3333sweetie9 жыл бұрын
Christian Gainey Does it still exist?
@christiangainey12239 жыл бұрын
No. But if you're a fan of the tv show FRIENDS, there is an episode where Phoebe speaks this way to impress her boyfriend's rich New York parents. You can watch the clip on youtube if you type in "Phoebe with "posh" accent." It's pretty funny. Also, the character C.C. Babcock on the TV show "The Nanny" spoke just like this as the character was a wealthy New York socialite that went to boarding school.
@3333sweetie9 жыл бұрын
Christian Gainey Thanks. It does sound British though.
@EmpressOfWyoming588 жыл бұрын
+3333sweetie It is definitely a distinctive accent. If you watch movies from the beginning of movies with sound or talkies, listen to the accents of the actors and actresses. They sound different from today. They sound more posh. A lot of them had lessons in elocution and it's possible that Jackie had them, too. The thing is, she hated the posh world of her step father. She didn't feel like she fit in and asked to go away to a college prep boarding school in Maryland, to distance herself from that elite world.

Jacqueline, I think, would admire Mrs. Obama. She would approve of how Mrs. Obama has sheltered her daughters and how devoted and involved she is in helping our President. It is why I so admire my father and mother, they are glove in hand, each doing everything, anything they can to make each others life as good as they want it to be. Love, true love is the thing, the singular thing that can flower, grow and be as lovely as my favorite kind of rose. White: For purity.
