I was mesmerized by his performances. I couldn’t understand how anyone could so embody a role. I spotted him first in Twister and knew then that he would probably go places. He brought such an intensity to that almost thankless role. He was a standout. Then he started appearing in character roles where you didn’t even know he was in a film until later and then you think back and say, “Wow, he WAS in that, wasn’t he?” In Flawless he was stunning. In Happyness we was frighteningly dark and disturbed. In that Meryl Streep film he was just brilliant. Dark, disturbing, but sympathetic as well. How do you play a child molester who is sympathetic? Because he made him human. I have no sympathy for child molesters, but you got to know him as a person in that role. He truly had fooled himself into thinking what he was doing wasn’t harmful. Scary good performance.

Brad Penrod I was a huge fan of his as a heroin user myself and even worse a fentanyl user I understand what he was going through, but he has to be somewhat at fault when you see his toxicology and how many drugs he was mixing and taking from adderall to alcohol to heroin and benzos and all the other drugs they found in his system the worst part is the dope he was taking wasn’t even mixed with fentanyl so I’m sure if you take all the other drugs out of the equation he prob wouldn’t of died that night. When someone overdoses on heroin more then 80% of the time it’s because they mixed the dope with benzos and other drugs and any other time it’s usually because of low tolerance. In this case he had no chance with the amount of other stuff he was taking.

Drugs don't 'get' a person. A person turns to drugs due to pain, loneliness, trauma, and being mentally unwell. If you could remove drugs from the Earth, they would find another way to tune out and damage themselves. Drugs are not the answer, for sure, but they are not the problem either. A culture as unfeeling and alienating and traumatizing as this, is the problem. Drug abuse is just a symptom.

I don't think drugs are good but I think we need to change our ways of addressing them. If they decriminalized and legalized drugs and put all the money wasted on arrests/convictions into actual treatment facilities and drug education (real education, not PSA propaganda), more addicts would seek help since they wouldn't feel like criminals, less adulteration of substances would occur since the market would be monitored/controlled, cartels/dealers and crime associated with both would become obsolete, and addicts would have a safe place to do their drugs where overdoses can be prevented/reversed. What we've been doing for over the past hundred years obviously hasn't worked. It's only caused more drug use, more deaths, more crime, more incarcerations, higher deficits - which results in higher taxes, and more ignorance/hypocrisy relating to the topic. We need to focus more on improving people's mental health than on criminalizing their addiction.
