Fortunately it is also a state crime-in every state where a donor lives-too. NY is the first state about to prosecute him. Many others will likely follow when NY has made all the hard work. And since he admitted by asking for, and got, a pardon, it won’t likely be hard to convict him. And he can be tried and sentenced by the states, because he was never tried and sentenced by the federal government (besides the state charges not being the same as the federal charges…they are simply different crimes). And Trump can’t save him from state charges. I’m sure he will be sued too for this when more people figure out who he is and want their money back.
