What’s worse Chernobyl or Fukushima
@hishouha5 жыл бұрын
Right now maybe Fukushima, since it’s recent. But decontamination progress are fast and population was protected and handled quickly. There were faults in the plant for sure and right now the sea is still getting polluted. Chernobyl, on the other hand, because of lack of technology and knowledge (mostly), a big part of the population were irradiated without even knowing because the government wouldn’t act quickly enough. Hundreds of brave men had to go on top of the roof, directly above the explosion, to clean it up, and thus with barely any equipment, resulting in lots of deaths and ills. Finally, the incident of Chernobyl was cause by human negligence while Fukushima was mostly caused by a nature catastrophe. So I guess you can have an idea which is worse, but both are still terrible tragedies that could’ve been avoided..
@hishouha5 жыл бұрын
nymfe1 We can’t know for sure what’s going on with the decontamination process, but already Fukushima’s habitants can start to come back in certain areas. But the big difference for me is that Chernobyl’s tragedy was caused by human neglect during the daily testing process while Fukushima, even though there were definitely flaws in the construction, was nature caused. And then you can also compare the difference in fatalities which are enormous. Yeah, Chernobyl is definitely older, but what happened was still really terrible and still leave an impact even though it’s been decades

Hey, why that radiation detector is going off, it's covered in protective plastic!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@johnnyhoffmann13674 жыл бұрын
The radiation detector is going off because the Gamma Radiation emitted from some of the radioactive particles is penetrating the protective plastic. Gamma rays can pass through almost anything as the object is not too thick, and also they spread out as you go further away from the gamma source.

They seem to be suffering from similar problems that the Chernobyl liquidation squads ran into with regards to water contamination and lack of transparency. They had pieces of the core in the surrounding water. They drained the area and removed the material at the bottom. The pieces in the ocean are obviously problematic. Japan is an advanced society but it doesn’t want to panic people. The lesson that’s missing is that an informed public is a safer people. The backlash from information suppression is bad for everyone.
