I think it would be a good policy for daycares to call parents within 30 min of their child not showing up to daycare to make sure everything is ok. It would be a little more trouble for daycares but could save lives. Most public schools do it to make sure they know that their child didn't show up.

I use to be the person to ask how can someone forget their child? It can happen. It happened to me when my daughter was almost 4. I use to work at 6 am so my daughters father would take her to daycare every morning for 3 years. One morning I needed to take her and I was running late. I was so focused on getting to work that I drove my usual route and passed by her daycare. She was silent the whole way to my job. As soon as I got out and almost shut the door I hear her say, "mommy, I not go to daycare today"? My heart dropped. I was hysterical and balling my eyes just knowing what could have happened. I had to bring her in my office and explain to my boss what had just happened and she let me have the rest of the day off because I was a nervous wreck. I was lucky enough that she spoke up. Never judge anyone because no matter how much you think you are a good parent, accidents happen.

Jailynn tnniy I wanna tell y'all a little story. I had a 4 month old at one time (and a four year old) . One day momma told me be careful you don't forget the baby in the car one day when you're running errands. I said, "what mother forgets their child mom!" One day, had the baby in the backseat he was a newborn, super quiet kid, I was in my zone thinking about a million kids driving to the supermarket.....i got to the baby aisle before I notice I had left my son in the car. The fear, was indescribable. He was okay, I sat there and cried. Shit happens.

Right? He had a" daddy and son" breakfast day and he never thinks about him the rest of the day? Anyone else would remember right away or snap back. Its not like he had a hectic morning either. He drove him to chikfila, they ate for fifteen minutes ans they left. It would only take 2 minutes to get to work from Chikfilay and Cooper's daycare is right next door apart of home depot. So your son is next door all day and you don't think of him once? Leanne Harris is guilty too

@existentialcrisis4884

J Shepard My point is that if parents truly forget their kids, how come it never happens in other seasons? If you left your kid in the car in winter they would probably freeze to death, but not as quickly as in a hot car,and there would be more of a chance of a stranger hearing them cry,which is why it doesn't happen, parents leave them in hot cars because they know it will be a quick death with an easy excuse. I doubt that all these parents are just forgetting. You missed my point completely .
@existentialcrisis4884

My mom once dropped my little sister down the stairs in my house because she tripped. It was only about 7 stairs and it wasn't all that bad but my mom still screamed on the top of her lungs and bolted down to my sister, my dad came sprinting over from the kitchen. She only had a black eye and a few bruises yet they were still bawling their eyes out and kept on saying they were sorry and my mom was so mad at herself. Comparing the reactions between my parents and these parents, it just looks so set up and fake. The father is a horrible actor...

Well guess what? People react different and in different situations. Not everyone screams or bawls their eyes out for hours(that would be exhausting) , minutes or however long out in fact a lot of people don't have that reaction like they do in movies you see in real life it is very different sometimes. Everyone handles stuff differently. I have learned this going through some horrific things in my life. Where thought would be on the floor crying and screaming but I wasn't but yes some people do. Now I did cry but not very long or letting out screeches or screams I guess that is just not me. I mostly go into shock which the more you are into shock you are just numb and quite.

This father is putting on a performance. You can see him in the back of the cop car looking around to see if there was a camera. He did it deliberately, as he just held him minutes earlier inside a restaurant.

Lack of sleep and the stress of work. Happens more often than you would think. That's why I think at least for the first few years of the child's life, if you can afford it, one of the parents shouldn't work full-time. Leading a stressful life is unfair to the child and to the parents.

I know people get beat down by life, but they must not interact with their child a lot to forget them. For instance, if it's hot I will be thinking all sorts of things about my child like does he have water, is he sweating, did he have some sun protection, etc...I'm sure most parents are like this. I mean sure you don't have to be super attentive every 5 seconds but the younger they are the more attention they need. Babies and children need supervision all the time especially the active little buggers who get into all sorts of stuff.

Same thing happened to me 15 years ago, I got my 2 year old and 6 month old in my van to drop them off at my mothers house, as I went to class, as I was in nursing school. My husband worked 3rd shift so he slept all day. I drove to my moms house, got my 2 year old out, took him in, got back in the car and drove to school. It was 85 degrees that day. I got out the car grabbing my things off the front seat, then I saw something move, look and saw my baby... 😭😭😭😭😭😭. I dropped out of nursing school, and quit my full time job after that.... how in the hell did I forget I had A BABY! I was so overwhelmed, stressed and just had to many damn things going on. So when I see stories like this and read comments I think, “that’s what people would have thought of me had she died” and that would sooooo wrong. I’m so thankful to God that she moved in the backseat that day 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. Also, for those who are wondering, I called my mom panicking and asking her why didn’t she say anything when she didn’t see me bring the baby in the house. She assumed that my husband must of had her 😔

I brought my dog to the vet one day and had to stop at the store on the way home (it was very cold out so opposite of a hot car) and I opened the window for her and frantically ran around the store grabbing what I needed so that she wasn’t in there for long. I came back out, immediately closed the window and put the heat on for her and gave her lots of kisses to reassure her that I’d never forget her. I was only in the store for a few mins but still. You never ever forget when there’s a child or animal in your car. That’s insane.

I have seen the same behavior in my patients that are hospitalized in our mental health facility. The behavior is not uncommon. Is it strange to see but not uncommon. Shock is what brings on the calm! It is when a patient is in a state of disbelief. They dont want to face what has happened and the pain of what has happened is telling the brain to shut off.

That comparison to Will Ferrell was PERFECT. Spot-on. As terrible as this situation is, the "acting" the dude was doing was just so bad it's almost literally a copy of a Will Ferrell skit. (3:07 is the timestamp) I looked it up... It was in Old School that Will Ferrell yells, "My boy!!!" concerning the death of Blue, the elderly fraternity member.

Alissa Q if you’re uncertain...as a a woman..you don’t have to have babies... I would recommend that if your attitude is towards fun...Have it. Use all precautions....I believe Some individuals shouldn’t...I have worked with children who have lived in terrible situations, drug abused parents, living in the Foster care system...etc..I have taken the children to buy food as the parents are out having a Good Time.. I endured a mother who tolerated her children..the reason she had children was to control the men in her life...it’s sad but soo true.

This is a deadly mistake a lot of parents have made... It's a horrific mistake a lot of parents make. I don't believe that this man wanted to kill his child. However I absolutely believe that every parent that does this must be held accountable and it should be punishable by law.It should carry as much weight as a murder charge . Also It's very wrong to judge someone for how they process grief, its different for everyone and there is nooo manual for it.
