Help the children of "super donors" to keep track of each other and avoid incest 3. Verify that the husband is indeed the father in cases where that was supposed to be what the doctor promised. 4. Make sure they haven't switched embryos in IVF because that has happened. When a family of Italian backgrounds in New Jersey has twins and one baby was obviously black. You know somebody messed up. If someone else's Italian baby had been added, it might be a very long time before someone figured it out.

One could argue that the doctor isn't protected from donor anonymity agreements because he is the owner of a company. He would in fact violate that clause himself maybe even nullifying it. Moreover, there is a conflict of interest as the doctor would have been violating patient-provider confidentiality too as the patient (woman's mother) has a right to how her health information will be used, (i.e. her egg is mixed with his sperm), and she has to give consent for it to be used especially if it's her doctor. If he as a doctor believes his sperm is in fact "medical treatment" then she would need to sign off on this just like she did for donor #106.

There was a case like this in Indiana some years ago. Moms thought their artificial inseminations had used their husband's sperm when in fact the sperm was from their OB/Gyn. He had fathered dozens of children, all in the local area. The odds of accidentally marrying and reproducing with a half sibling are great. The doctor, now retired, was never prosecuted, because prosecutors could not identify any law he had broken. He got away with it. In addition to the ethical issues, think of the health problems caused by genetic incest.

When I was in my early 30’s I was exploring the issue of how I wanted to get pregnant, as a single woman. I had several inseminations with frozen donor sperm. Well even without sperm donors people can have an bunch of half sibblings around. And then when they grow up and leave an bunch of half sibblings around. And then the next generation dose the same. Well the real question is how much inbreeding occurred without anyone even realizing it. This is why I think society should not just sleep around.
