I am very proud of her because she continues with the Aguilar legacy, plus, her family is very close from my hometown in Zacatecas.. She seems very responsible for her age. I grew up listening to her grandparents, Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, in the 60's here in California. Jaripeo sin Fronteras is a must see family event. Not to many kids listen to their kids nowadays anymore. I love how the whole family sticks together.

Later on when Reagan became president, he invited him and his family to the White House. There is video and photographs of the Aguilar family at the White House. She's not humble. I love that she is keeping the traditions alive by displaying it. But she always makes it about her to make herself look pretty, it's not about demonstrating the culture itself. She wears the attire and sings the folk songs, but she doesn't know what any of it means. Her grandmother even criticized her for not "feeling" it. And her response, "What do you expect grandma? I'm little (she was around 16 or 17)." I hope she matures enough and genuinely appreciates the clothing and music. Because off the stage, she wears Gucci, Channel, etc. This isn't bad of course, but I wouldn't consider that humble. Her brother on the other hand, does come off as being humble. He practices the Mexican national sport (charrería), though he can't be considered a charro yet since he hasn't performed the 9 events. He greets people readily, unlike her. He wears clothing of the average Joe offstage.

I'm from Oaxaca and her version of la Llorona is not one of the best. She is from northern Mexico she has no understanding of the culture of Oaxaca, she is just imitating sounds she sounds fake, and she is just popular because she is young and attractive. She is a Selena wanna-be, her family monopolizes the ranchero performance show industry. Yalitzia Aparicio's ( the actress from the movie Roma) sister is an excellent singer, however, she is not given an opportunity, because of racial discrimination. It was not until recently when foreigners have given appreciation and admiration to the Indigenous culture of Oaxaca and of Mexico in general that Mexican national singers decided to record Mexican indigenous music because they want to make money out of it. The same thing to Dia de Muertos, it is mostly an Indigenous spiritual observance to honor your loved ones. And now people have invaded the cemeteries with drunken males playing blaring Banda cowboy music trampling the tombs with a lack of respect for the family members who still shed an occasional tear in memory of a family member who died many years earlier. Now many cities in Mexico hold Halloween Carnaval type of parades.

She's not humble. I love that she is keeping the traditions alive by displaying it. But she always makes it about her to make herself look pretty, it's not about demonstrating the culture itself. She wears the attire and sings the folk songs, but she doesn't know what any of it means. Her grandmother even criticized her for not "feeling" it. And her response, "What do you expect grandma? I'm little (she was around 16 or 17)." I hope she matures enough and learns to genuinely appreciate the clothing and music. Because off the stage, she wears Gucci, Channel, etc. This isn't bad of course, but I wouldn't consider that humble. Her brother on the other hand, does come off as being humble. He practices the Mexican national sport (charrería), though he can't be considered a charro yet since he hasn't performed the 9 events. He greets people readily, unlike her. He wears clothing of the average Joe offstage.
