Very easy installation. The chrome flexible slip fit hose attachments to the existing plumbing are not included. I bought the Home Depot Shark Bite flexible braided steel lines but suggest getting the ones shown as the braided lines put a bit of weight on the connections. They hang where as the ones shown do not. 1/2" inside diameter drain hose is not included nor is a 1/2" hose clamp. I used the video on you tube from Aquatell Videos to program the Fleck 5600 SXT Control Valve.I found 602 ABC Water on Amazon but called and purchased direct. Happy I did. Did not pay a plumber $405 as offered by Amazon and glad I didn't. Don't be intimidated by the Kinetico or Culligan sales pitch. You can do this yourself and save tons! Great product and easy installation. Guys at 602abcWater are very helpful if you have questions.

Thank you for your input, now when bought directly on our website we do include a short drain line and hose clamp. We also offer the stainless steel flex lines, which are better quality than those found at Home Depot. We also now pre program our units and offer a KZbin video on how to do it yourself for all you DIY people. Thanks again for your purchase!

I just ordered my 5600 SXT for my new home. We don't move in for another month, but after watching this video I can't wait to install this. I'm not the best a DIYer projects, but after watching this video I am not intimidated at all about this project. In fact I am excited about tackling it. I found them on Amazon as well but had a few questions for my particular application so I googled them and called direct. Basically I took my water test results and they recommended a unit for me. I went with a 64k unit and fine mesh for my iron levels. 602abcWater ships for free and is tax free so it was the same cost as Amazon but with the particular configuration I needed that I did not see listed. FYI for other readers I guess as you have yours.

"Great Reasons Why to Buy Direct from 602abcWATER's Website" Customers ask us "Why should I buy from your website? I see your listings on all the popular sites like Amazon, Walmart and eBay. You sell them at the same price on all the sites. You offer free shipping on all the sites. So why should I purchase direct?". Thanks for asking. We are experts in water softeners and understand the mechanics, know the parts and how to actually install them. Amazon and the others won't know how to help you with these technicalities. We are a family owned and operated business that pride ourselves in being not only quick, but helpful respondents. Our seller reviews are clearly displayed on these popular marketplaces that customers are happily satisfied. Amazon and the others are large corporate entities following protocols that slow communication. We also know you will need a couple bags of salt to operate this new water softener. We will buy your first 2 bags of salt just for purchasing from our website.

Our house was just installed a new water softener just like the one you have in this tutorial.. I used to have GE brand with the motor inside the unit. I am pleased with this unit however, it it normal to have water inside the box where salt is added to have water in it all the time. It does not drain ever? I did not have an owner's manual so I am asking this question. It is completely different from my old GE brand where the water is drained completely.

Hi Yolanda, The brine tank with the salt in it will drain during the regeneration cycle typically at 2 am maybe once a week or so depending on your usage, then it will refill. Water in the brine tank is completely normal and is needed to work properly. You can always text us with questions at 602-321-0145 for a quicker response. Thank you for your purchase and enjoy!

Yes, it is normal to have water in your brine tank where the salt resides. Please text our tech support line if you need quick answers (602.321.0145) Acceptable water levels can reside between 1/3 to 2/3 full in tank. You can find the stainless steel flex line on our website: 602abcwater.com/18-stainless-steel-female-to-sharkbite-flex-line/ The drain line can be long. We have run them straight up in to attics. We have also run them up the front of a house, across the flat roof, and down in to a drain behind the house.

I'm having my plumber put in a copper supply "bridge" like the one you start with here. Is there a reason why the copper supply lines have to be coming out (horizontally) away from the wall? Could the bridge be oriented up or down (vertically) on the wall in order to save some space? Maybe it's just to make the pipes easier to cut and connect?
@602abcWATER
@602abcWATER 6 жыл бұрын
You can configure the pipes to accommodate for more space. Our configuration is known as a "loop" installation. 2 things to watch out for. First, you will always want to confirm the water flow direction prior to connecting. We hear about people accidentally switching the lines (In & Out) when connecting to the water softener. This will flush the water softener resin into your home's water lines. Second, make sure the fitting is perfectly horizontal when connecting to the water softener's yoke. If the bypass assembly and yoke are strained upward or downward due to a short connection, you'll see leaks. Text us with questions at 602.321.0145

The Brine tank I just received and am installing has the holes in the corner. If the white overflow fitting is in the corner of the brine tank, how does a flat nut and flat barb fitting seal against the corner of the tank which has a radius? Seems to me that if the float sticks and the unit overflows, the water will go down the side of the brine tank, and not out the white barbed fitting for overflow...?? Is the corner location an advantage over the center location of the brine tank?

Does this water softeners filter the water? Or do I also need a water filter system?
@602abcWATER
@602abcWATER 5 жыл бұрын
Water softeners filter hard water elements such as calcium and magnesium. We recommend pairing this water softener with an upflow carbon filtration system. Carbon filtration will remove unwanted color, smells and tastes from water including Chlorine (if water is supplied by City). Visit our website to review a combo water softener with upflow carbon filter system. 602abcwater.com/collections/water-softeners-carbon-tank/products/copy-of-abcwaters-built-fleck-5600sxt-64-000-grain-w-2-cu-ft-upflow-carbon-tank

@602abcWATER
@602abcWATER 5 жыл бұрын
Hi there JJ Homer, to answer your questions correctly we would need to know what types of problems your having with your particular well, as all are unique. Maybe a sand or sediment filter before equipment, an iron unit or something to fix PH problems, then a softener and maybe a UV system or RO system for drinking. If you want to send us a water sample or do a water test first and give us specs like how many people in the home and flow rate needed then we could best help you with a water treatment plan. Thank you for asking!

I'd like to purchase your softener because it looks pretty simple to install myself. I'm just a little lost as to what else I'll need to buy? My water in / out pipes are 3/4" PVC, and the space is extremely cramped so the softener and tank will need to be about 3-4 feet away from these connections. Here are my questions: - You advertise a 1" connector to the yoke, does that mean I'll need a special adapter to connect to my PVC pipes? - Since I need to place the softener a couple feet away (the water heater is right by the pipes and leaves no room), what is the best way to extend the incoming water lines to my house I have to reach the softener? Can I buy a longer flex pipe or a different kind of pipe all together that could extend to the softener and what kind of adapters will I need? -the drain in the utility closet is also a couple feet away, can I just lead the drain hose you provide and place it over the drain or is that stupid? Sorry if I sound like an amatuer, (I am one). Thank you!

The system will come with a 1” male yoke adapter. You could install a ¾” glue coupling and then using PVC extend the pipes as long as you need them. Then install a ¾” glue x 1” PVC female adapter on the end of each pipe. You would want to connect the PVC female end to the male yoke adapter before gluing onto the pipes. Use Teflon tape on the threads of the male yoke adapter and turn a half turn after the fittings are snug. The other option would be use a flex line to connect your extended pipes to the male yoke adapter. If you choose this way you will need to use a ¾” glue x 1” male adapter on the end of each pipe. The standard flex supply lines are 18” long. The system doesn’t come with drain line. You will need to purchase ½” ID poly tubing the length needed for the drain line run. You can run the drain into the utility closet drain. You will need to secure the drain so it doesn’t whip around when regenerating. The regeneration uses the house water pressure to operate the drain, so it will have good pressure. If you send pictures we can be more precise on suggestions to do the install.

You can find them on our website: 602abcwater.com/collections/water-softeners-1/products/abcwaters-elite-high-flow-1-48k-water-softener-system-with-digital-touch-screen Here's an install video for our high flow applications. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4SUZIuYbdyVZ5o

Does the bypass come with the unit?
@andmicbro1
@andmicbro1 6 жыл бұрын
The bypass came with my unit from ABCWaters that I ordered on Amazon. The things that are NOT included are: 1) The threaded sharkbite connectors to hook to uyour plumbing as shown in the video. 2) The white tape used on the brine tank valve. 3) You will also need the lubricant, they say you can use regular cooking oil as a substitute in the instructions, but I just bought some plumber's lube at the hardware store for like $1.50. 4) the drain line, it's 1/2 " inside diameter, again, I just got some cheap hosing from the hardware store. 5) You will need a few tools to complete the install, but nothing too fancy. You will need a flat head screw driver, or you can use a wrench for the hex head. I would have an adjustable wrench just to tighten a few things as shown in the video. And you will need something to cut the pipes, I just got a cheap small hacksaw, you don't have to buy a pipe cutter like the guy in the video used, but they don't seem crazy expensive, most of the ones I saw were $7 to $20 with a lot of variety in sizes and types. That about it. The tank came prefilled with the resin, so some other videos for this model show you need a funnel as well, but ABCWaters already put the resin in, so I didn't need more than the above to complete the task.

fleck 5600sxt do i need CARBON media in bottom of tank? or only RESIN, for replacment of existing media...city water, no iron, no chlorine smell..thanks

For water softening applications you only need resin.
@602abcWATER
@602abcWATER 7 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind they make a 5600sxt in both a water softener and a backwashing filter. If you are rebedding a water softener, we recommend replacing the resin and distributor tube (with basket). Here are some kits: www.amazon.com/dp/B0752VWJT3

at 5:57 & 6:08, why is there two different steps? one connection is on the flat side and the other on the corner?
@602abcWATER
@602abcWATER 6 жыл бұрын
There are similar systems, like the standard and space saver softeners, that have slightly different tank dimensions. There's no difference other than placement and connection type to the brine line. We showed the 2 steps to assure all our customers can relate to at least one version. Sorry for the confusion.

how long does this softener last
@602abcWATER
@602abcWATER 6 жыл бұрын
It could last decades depending on your water condition, and how you protect your water softener resin. If you are on city water, there is chlorine present. Chlorine destroys resin over time. We've heard resin lasting 3 to 5 years before needing to change it. Adding a carbon filter will remove the chlorine prior to entering the water softener. We recommend pairing a water softener with an upflow carbon filtration system - 602abcwater.com/collections/water-softeners-carbon-tank/products/copy-of-abcwaters-built-fleck-5600sxt-64-000-grain-w-2-cu-ft-upflow-carbon-tank

Beautiful copper into those junk flex connectors, so when someone bumps into the softener it will fall over, and break the bypass off the head and cause a major leak, copper to the product gives it support. Did anyone else notice how unstable the softener was on the flat floor. Disaster waiting to happen.

Installations do vary across the nation and we are here to help. Do you have a specific installation you need help with? Also as an option you can have it installed by a plumber or water dealer. Locally it's usually a $350-450 job, but again that can vary based on your individual house. We are trying to educate homeowners so they don't go spend $3k-5k on a system that works exactly the same from one of the big name companies. Even paying to have it installed our costumers are often saving 50% or more this way. Thank you for your comments.

Why is the drain line connecting to a hard copper line at 4:40 ???
@602abcWATER
@602abcWATER 6 жыл бұрын
We use a push-to-connect fitting. We just ran our drain line out through the copper. You just need rigid tubing. Yes, the 1/2" copper is the drain line. The home's water pressure provides the ability to run drain lines vertically up walls. We recommend avoiding anything greater than 20' vertical runs. The maximum length of a drain should be less than 50'. If you need to run a drain line longer than 50', you will need to increase the drain line diameter to 3/4" beyond the 50' mark. Text us at 602.321.0145 with your questions.

@@michaeldotson658 Because they purposely make them so that you can not check the lifting of the mineral bed by using a light behind the tank. This means you can't diagnose it.
