Depends upon where you suspect patology. Barium swallow is for upper GIT, enema is for lower GIT.

Barium Swallow before Barium Enema (barium from the oesophagus will eventually end up in the colon).

Barium containg food ingested by patient. Barium meal shows upper git upto small intestine.

Does this test have to be done in a hospital? on ct scan machine, or can it be done by portable x-ray for in home patients? Please reply my father has ulcer and it's not getting better and he can't go to the hospital.

It should be done in hospital under observation of doctors, Ct scan and MRI can be choice against this procedure
