Is the horse guards a petting zoo? Is it a tourist attraction? Or is it a military establishment? I am sickened at how the crowds are allowed to act if it is meant to be a serious military base. The dumbing down of this Country's traditional roles is seriously concerning. I cannot watch the fast deterioration of respect.

Why? Yes they are REAL soldiers, YES they are performing part of their duties BUT no other regiments within the military are as up close to the public as those on sentry duty at Horse Guards & the Royal residence's, where part of their public duty is to "show willing" for the tourist's who pay to see such thing's & whose money is used to maintain & manage all our historic buildings... The horse guard will let you know in no uncertain term's if your attention is upsetting his horse or in anyway interfering with he's main job of protecting the monarch, & as regular visitor's to this & other channels will show, there are certain horse's who let you know NOT to touch before the guard has to... Or in Ormonde & Monty's case they see terrifying the tourist's as a perk of the job Don't let a few badly behaved idiot's spoil everyone else's enjoyment , instead be proud that people travel from every corner of the world to see our amazing heritage, history & tradition's 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

The horse is so unhappy, why doesn't the guard say something I know they aren't liking what is happening to the animals they love. Rank should have nothing to do with protecting your horse from absolutely ignorant and brain dead tourists. These animals and guards are doing a days work, they are not a petting zoo, models or actors they are trained soldiers as are the horses. More respect should be shown by their employers and the people visiting this place which in my opinion as a place of work should never have been included as an amusement for tourists. There are enough real amusements in London so this one should definitely removed from the list the sooner the better😡

@joyceroberts38866 сағат бұрын
@@riakendall8610 Re-routing the footpath would be rather difficult don't you think, since it's the official entrance to the Palace, Horse Guard Parade yard and is directly beside 4 lanes of traffic. The decision is up to the local council members as well. The Ministry of Defense headquarters is just a short distance away, across the road from the horse guards and barracks, should their be any terrorist attacks. I'm sure they are fully informed should something arise. The amount of rude, obnoxious, disrespectful tourists, bugs me too, and I'm across the pond. It's total disregard for any military service

@garywagner24663 күн бұрын
Um, no. The police are there to protect everyone from actual terrorists and the occasional nutter. The tourists pay the bills. The horses and riders are learning how to deal with the public. That’s their job. If constipated people had their way, all public buildings would be locked behind high fences. That would be much worse.
@george-ev1dq3 күн бұрын
Well, that is the nature of a tourist attraction.
@monicawarner40913 күн бұрын
The Police are paid to guard the building, which houses MoD offices, the people working in it, and the tourists, from possible terrorist attack. They are not paid to protect the Guards, but they can help with crowd control. Edit • Barriers are not only dangerous for both horse and tourists in the event one gets spooked, but they cannot be erected on a public thoroughfare, which is what Whitehall is. As for costing "hundreds of thousands," perhaps it's as well that the country gains so much from having the Monarchy, which contributes around £400m of their own money to the economy every year (at a cost to taxpayers of £40m for security). On top of that, revenue from tourism to places such as Horseguards brings in a further £1billion p.a. The Guards are all enlisted service personnel in the British Army, not photographic props. It is unfortunate and annoying that so many of the tourists are lacking in respect, but many more are thrilled by the whole experience at Horseguards.
