A true genius of Pakistan...Pakistanis can feel very very proud of Prof Salam..He was one of the best scientific minds to emerge from this region of subcontinent..The more i read about him, i am in awe of the man..Prof Salam was probably the only one from the east in the ranks of Einstein and Dirac et al....Even Indians can feel honored to have been associated with him..He was more Muslim than Muslim, more Hindu than Hindu..He transcended boundaries and religions..People such as him are gems to be honored and remembered...Best wishes to Pakistanis who want to have a better country...Best wishes to Pakistan from India !

I did not know Dr Salam but I was fortunate enough to attend a couple of his lectures and, of course as a particle physics student, studied his work. Dr Hoodbhoy's recollections are sincere and bittersweet. Pakistan's treatment of Dr Salam, or Dr Hoodbhoy for that matter, has been truly shameful.

Dr. Salam is well regarded in India and many Indians were trained by profession Salam in Triste. Salam came to Kolkata when I was there to meet with his old Bengali teacher who taught him basic mathematics in Lahore in undivided India.
