Congrats, Beatriz, on your beautiful boy! I love his name. You seem to have weathered the NICU experience incredibly well! (Much better than I did with Alice!) It's great to see you smiling and home with baby!

+Kaity Katulka2 I was kind of numb throughout the whole week. I really tried not to think about it too much or I really would have had a breakdown!! Abe has hardly been put down since!

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I did follow your Instagram story but hearing all the details here had me in tears. Our births were quite similar and I've never been able to talk to anyone about it, so this was therapeutic for me. I look forward to any other updates you have for KZbin.

+Tristen Engelman IG is a hard platform because a lot of these details don't have a 'picture' to go with. I haven't talked about his arm yet there

I went through a similar situation with my first baby but I ended up having to have an emergency c section and my son is diagnosed with HIE and neonatal seizures. Best of luck to you! I’m still playing the waiting game about what damaged has been done

My son had shoulder dystosia also, it was a extremely distressing time for us all, waiting to see how he developed was likened to torture, I'm very lucky that my boy is 100% perfect! I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant and I will be having a c section, as you know it's totally not worth it to risk the health of our babies for our own selfishness, I wish you and your little boy all the best

His birth and the birth of my older daughter were so similar, except mine ended in an emergency c-section. He's adorable and I love his name! If I ever have a son I want his first or middle name to be Abraham.

+MelissaWithLove I'm so surprised it didn't end that way after all of that! Thank you

Thank you for sharing your story. Listening to you brought back my own birth trauma. I have a very similar story except that my son wasn't qualified for the the cooling because they found out past the 6 hour window of opportunity :( I was just wondering, are you in Canada or US?
@duckduckgander8 жыл бұрын
+Nosheen Munir I didn't even know there was a time cutoff! I learn something new about HIE all the time! I'm in the US, in Vermont :) you??
@nosheenmunir9558 жыл бұрын
Yeah when they told me that my son doesn't qualify for the cooling because his seizures presented after the 6 hour window, it was yet another punch to the stomach :'( Seemed like it bad to worse news everyday in the NICU. I'm in Ontario Canada. The story you described is sooo similar to mine that I thought you might have delivered at the same crappy hospital as I did..lol....I actually just realized you are part of the same facebook as me (for HIE).

HEY! My son's name is Abraham, and he has HIE! He's about a year older than your son. Have you found the HIE parent group on Facebook?

+SpaceGovernor wow!! small world!! is it called "Hope for HIE (Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy) Parent Forum" ???
@MayorJazz8 жыл бұрын
+duckduckgosling Yes, that's the one! There's also New to HIE, The In-Between in HIE, and several other offshoots like that. I didn't even know it existed until my son was 6 or 7 months old, so I wanted to make sure you knew about it!
