I call my mother by her first name a lot. It doesn't actually "say" that much. I use her first name when I'm referencing her to another person so they know exactly who I'm talking about since more ppl know her by her name than as "my mother", especially in a business or public type of setting. It's just more formal. I don't call her by names when im addressing her directly.

Probably a weak willed man. Outnumbered by these 2 women who appear to have all the correct answers and the handle on discipline, as the culture is dunking on the "white male patriarchy". No matter your views on such things, this has an impact on a man's analysis of the situation. It's easy to feel like you're the one who's wrong, and you're on the wrong side of history. This is how I felt in the 2000's when they were trying to give my sons ADHD meds...outnumbered by bureaucrats.

I remember seeing one video where he was being awful to his son at the kitchen table just for having his phone out. He mocked him by reading aloud the text messages to everyone. Yeah, for a lot of households that run like this, the men are the head honcho. Ruby Franke was probably the main disciplinarian for the kids because they believe the mom is the main one to handle the kids. But Kevin Franke was an enabler that could have put a stop to this at anytime. And he participated in hurting his kids at least mentally and emotionally before.

No, the reporter asked her the standard vacuous question if she had "forgiven." She had a very carefully prepared, memorised, worked out answer. Probably worked out with a lawyer or other counsellor who prepped her for the interview. I would have told the reporter that question is a violation of her company's policies on sensitivities about race, religion and gender. However, that reporter would be too stupid to understand that it is a shibboleth question for "Are you Christian or Moslem?" And if Muslim, are you a fundamentalist who lives by Shariah Law?
@annatanneberger1
@annatanneberger1 14 күн бұрын
@@maketheworldabetterplace2292 I have commented on this matter, but I would also like to reach out to you personally. The reporter asked a standard airhead question ("Have you forgiven?") and Shari had wisely prepared an answer very carefully, because whoever prepped her knew it was coming. It is not an example to follow. Obviously she is not seeking revenge. Or the matter would be in the courts. So it is a New Age, spiritual, mental well-being question. And what does "forgiveness" mean under these disciplines? (a) That you have to suppress any knowledge or memory of what happened? (b) Or that you may never talk about it ever again? (c) Or that you are allowed to remember and talk about it, but without experiencing any negative emotions when doing so? All of the above is completely opposite to what is generally understood today as good for mental health. Combat veterans and victims of childhood sexual abuse sometimes successfully suppress memory, but it never ends well for them. When you suppress negative emotions, you also suppress positive emotions. That is the problem with anti-depressants - you no longer feel so sad, but you also seem incapable of joy. Or even much worse. The rage comes out in other ways, against other people, innocent bystanders that never had anything to do with what happened to you. And you stand there baffled, unable to comprehend why you had just vented such terrible rage on a child for dropping an ice cream cone. You cannot and should not "erase" anything from your memory. Find someone safe to talk to. Not necessarily a professional counsellor. They become bored with hearing the same story over and over again and then they shut you up with: "you have to forgive and move on." And that is so painful, because it is judgemental, it indicates that there is something wrong with you for feeling pain. There isn't. You just need someone to hold you. To listen.

Child abuse is apparently rampant in Utah, and at the same time underreported, because the LDS church advises abuse victims to call a church hotline instead of the police if something happened to them. This usually ends in the abuser getting away with it (meaning that he/she might be disciplined by the church, but is not getting arrested) and the vicitim not getting much (if any) help or even being blamed for what happened to them, because they wore immodest clothing or something. It's really sad. So glad these kids got the help and justice they deserved.

There is not a church hotline. I grew up in Utah. I'm a Christian and I think many Christians think they have to "forgive" and basically give someone a second chance or whatever. Nope! People who are crazy are going to continue to be crazy. We have to warn people about people who are truly crazy. Adults who are violent are most likely ALWAYS going to be that way. Adults that are compulsuve liars are always going to be that way. We can't just "forgive" adults who do these things and act like these things never happened. I think we can forgive someone if they've had a bad day or cheated on a spouse, but I don't think we can forgive someone like John Wayne Gacy or adults like the Turpening family. Some adults are just pure evil!

Shari is indeed a remarkable young woman. She is courageous, as well. She attempted over and over to report the abuse of her siblings. No one was listening until that fateful day when 12 year old "RF" escaped. Thank God for the neighbor who intercepted him and immediately called 911! Hearing his words and the emotion when his voice cracked as he described what he witnessed on the emaciated little boy who had come to him for help..just took me to my knees. Shari could now share all that she knew to be true and finally be heard! She has unrelentingly advocated for her siblings and their safety. I'm overjoyed to hear Shari's statement that she is no longer afraid of Ruby. I admire this young woman's strength and her commitment to also advocate for all children who have had no choice but to participate in their parents self-aggrandizing Vlogs. I wish her peace, privacy and happiness as she moves forward with her life..free from the evil that defines Ruby's existence. As A Side Note; I suspected immediately when I saw Jody & Ruby interviewed together that they were lovers. *The abuse these two women have perpetuated on innocent precious children confirms that they are both diabolical!*

You don't have to be an influencer; we treat neighbors with the same blind faith. My grandmother made my mother's life a living hell, and to this day, my mom has to hear from neighbors and acquaintances how great a mom she had, how much she helped her. All their knowledge is based on the fact that my grandmother smiled at them, was talkative and friendly, and told the world her version of the story.
@NotAnotherKuromi

My grandfather was the same, he would help neighbours mow the grass and was consider a stand up man by the community. However he would beat the whole family behind closed doors and demand to be treated like a king, or more accurately dictator. You know the stereotype of if the dinner was slightly cold then the wife gets beaten? That was what would happen, even if he was late home so it was his fault. I have never met my aunt because she ran away after being beaten so badly with a fire poker that she could not manage to go to school and pretend everything was fine. My grandfather was very angry at this so he beat her again and she feared he would kill her, so she flead, thankfully with the help of a friend and their family, she was 15. My grandmother never learned to drive because my grandfather would not allow it, even when they moved out of the city center. He wanted to drive her everywhere or they walked, for miles and miles. People used to say my grandfather was such a gentleman and wow he doesn't even make her fill the car or other duties but rather does it himself, yes because he wouldn't let her due to being incredibly controlling! My father doesn't talk much about the abuse he suffered in childhood but I am certain it contributed to the mental health and personal issues he struggles with to this day. People thinking he has an amazing childhood with the perfect father, and how could he not be perfect in those circumstances, certainly was a burden and caused extra stress. Out of all of the brothers my father has been able to be the healthiest I think and certainly the least sexist towards women but they are all suffering emotionally and I can't help but wonder how much better they would have turned out if they got rescued and held when they were being abused as children.

Mostly we were locked outdoors like animals (too young for school) but that was good because we went to a eucalyptus grove up on the hill and played alone for hours. Together, we stopped a generational cycle of it being ok to physically hurt your children. This, hopefully, should be the goal of every parent, imho.

I’m glad shari is speaking out. She’s doing so while respecting her other siblings, but also telling her story. People were awful to Shari. They called her Ruby 2.0 etc. and said she was Ruby’s “minion”, a goody two shoes, etc. And yet she’s nothing like her mother.

It's the two next oldest girls that I was concerned about being the "minions". Every time Ruby was coming down on someone, they were in the background, egging it on. And when the police visited Pam's house, they seemed unwilling to cooperate. I wonder how they are doing, now that Ruby isn't in the home.

This is truly one of the saddest stories I ever came across while scrolling online during my college for a few years, the oldest daughter calling the woman who used to be her mother by her own name gives so many chills. Hopefully the oldest daughter and the rest of the children are doing much better and continue to live together freely from this nightmare.

@@emma2370Are you braindead? Never mind the fact that Ruby was abusive from the get go and there’s literal video footage of him participating in it - you can’t simply banish someone and keep him from seeing his children.
