I was stuck in Scotland a couple of years. I heated up a couple of pebbles the size of my hands on the fire. Put them in the tent. Kept me warm all night. Very helpful these survival vids ♡♡♡

Ive also experienced those rocks burning through a tent and wool blanket. Old dry socks a ducttape fixed that! I guess make sure Make sure they arent river rocks or they explode.

Absolutely... I enjoyed the road trip in the snow as well... Reminded me of Colorado when I was a kid. We would camp on MT. Everast. Back when it was a dirt road up to the top. You literally had to pull over to let the oncoming traffic pass. If you were on the outside lane going up you would just crap yourself!

We did some winter camping in the scouts. We were taught, set up south of a line of trees without being UNDER them, as snow does build up and fall on your camp. Our scoutmaster was also PSYCHOTIC about a "tidy camp" and yes, the actual firewood was a separate pile from the sticks and twigs. He said that mad it easier to judge how much "real heat" you'd piled up. We made "solar hot dog cookers" out of tin foil and coat hangers. Also, the fattiest hamburger is best for camping. Keep the ketsup, spicy brown mustard on everything for me. And I never leave home without my cast iron skillet, I don;t care if it weighs more than my car. LOL

Loved your comment 🤗 I’ve hung onto my brothers scout handbook all these years. It survived a house fire as well and I STILL use it to make camp kitchen ‘stations’ Hang pots and pans on etc… different wind blocks fire the fire - weather gauges. It’s a keepsake for sure. Use it more than I ever used the girl guide one I had.

I cut my teeth on camping videos with Tony and AB Camping. My wife and I honeymooned in NZ and love the country. I haven’t been able to watch any camping videos for a while and when I found you, and then you with your wife, I was happy to see the NZ identification. I decided to go find Tony again. Before I did, bingo, you mentioned him as doing the outgoing for the video I was currently watching. The connection was a warm moment for me as Tony, unknowingly was my intro to camping videos. Very cool camping in a snow storm. You had a great site for it. The thing you did wrong was to not set up your rain fly for the weather you were going to experience. There is no ridge line to support it and no break to block the wind. You had to constantly knock the snow off of it.
