How well does the external fire do for drying out? Do you have any issues with the embers burning the tarp or tent? I am a hunter trying to decide whether I need to go the hot tent route, vs using an external fire for drying out. Hot tents have a big weight penalty, but the tarp can add a couple of pounds too. Another heating option might be the fire maple propane heater as well which could be run inside the vestibule. Ever tried propane heat? I know fire maple says not for indoor use, but I pretty sure that's just a "cover your a$$" policy by the company after talking with them. The buddy heaters use the same ceramic technology and are indoor safe.

This travel bird one I use for a more lightweight option. The Alton is bigger and less finicky to set up both are good

Still my favourite part of the experience....vicariously having coffee in bed on a morning with crappy weather. I really appreciated both the van and tent camps - each was so different from the other, yet equally enjoyable. As for the power of suggestion, it's a real thing.
