the german word for Cat is "Katze" so the "tze" will be understood as "Tee" the german word for tea

But she can't say cat because that causes the mouse to freak out.
@Quats23 күн бұрын
@@Matt_Fields_29 well she is causing a lot of comotion anyway so one more to freak out wouldn't hurt!

That is pretty clever 😊 Also sounds like this voice of Alice is also voiced by a child actress

sweden is pretty similar to the american version, Tea is just Te here and cat is Katt, the T in katt sounds same as Te so the wordplay was not that different

That's because Swedish and English are related languages (Germanic languages), while Portuguese language is Iberian language (mix of Latin with Celtic local language)

Well, it's quite strange but inventive translation in russian version - Alice is saying to Mad Hatter: we were sitting with...do you remember with whom? He answering: I do remember?! And she continues: we were sitting with her, we were bored (in russian language it goes like "skuchaya" so the phrase "chaya" means tea for us) 😅

Spanish. Cat is gato. So G A T... TÉ???? 😊

That was a clever way to handle it. A lot of dubs and translations can be very lazy and just expect their viewers to understand the original language enough they explain nothing. But at least in this time period, looks like people cared more to creatively problem solve.

That is the art of localization. Unfortunately some people don't find the work of localization important enough and choose to do simple translations. Now some even go the route of AI translation which is, usually, too literal.

@@DazychainIn Russian Warcraft3, the Scottish accent of Dwarves was localised as Caucasian (Chechen/Georgian?) because mountains. I always thought it was so fitting and brilliant. - Adûnâi

In Russian version they switched the word "cat" for "being bored", which is "скучая" [skuchaya] and chai is how we say tea in Russia

Cat in Japanese is猫 and tea in Japanese isお茶 (I'm not actually Japanese but I speak a lot of Japanese)

In Hungarian version it goes as "Valakivel, aki szereti a tejet... Teát?!" which means "Someone who likes milk... Tea?!" Also word "tej" means "milk", but we use the letter "t" to the end of object words if we tell that we do something with that object for example "like milk", and sometimes we put vowel before the "t" to make it easier to say the word. So that's why "tej" becomes "tejet"

It's hard to explain in french. The joke is that the letter T sound the same as the word tea, it works in french too. (tea = thé / cat = chat)

In Spanish the Word for “cat” is “gato” so when Alice is spelling, and she says the letter “T”, it has the same pronunciation of the Word “Tea” that is “Té”. So, same thing in English and Spanish.

That's why there's no dub of the Monogatari Series. Hachikuji literally couldn't exist because everything she says is a Japanese language pun.
