Aberthaw Cement Works. Colas run-rounds June 2020 and more.

70815 on the Moorswater Lafarge 6C36 to Aberthaw Cement Works on June 4th 2020. Arrives on time, having stopped at the signal box the loco the runs around on the Vale line having waited for the DMU from Bridgend to pass. The tanks are then reversed into the works for storage until a later date. For comparison, I've included clips of EWS and DRS at the same location and finally the 47 doing the opposite run to Briton Ferry for run round again.

I did not know Aberthaw had Oil Trains, what working was it ? also I used to have a Holiday in the Caravan park, about a couple of Miles up track, and you used to get the coal trains pass by the Caravan park, now the coal trains like you say are a sign of the past

As mentioned above, it's for use to power equipment etc at the Power Station

Where did the oil train come from? The oil sidings at the power station have not been used for at least 15 years

It's as required service for fuel tanks to the Power Station. They don't use coal for heating etc.

Could the power station track be reused if a housing estate with a railway station or trading/shipping estate was built on the old power station site?

We've got enough empty new houses around without more developments. They're still building houses on the old site of the Dia Woodhams scrapyard at Barry
