I lived in Sweden for 5 years (Gävle and Stockholm) travelled a fair bit and I can tell you the trains are so much smoother than the ones here in Canada. I'm born and raised in Toronto I still live in Toronto and this country of mine is going to shit. Shout out to Sweden sending love from Toronto 💙

Never ceases to amaze me how quiet smooth and fast rail is in most of Europe. Such a difference from N America. Over here the most commonly replaced part in a loco is the air horn. Because they are leaning on it every 2 minutes.

The major reason is that this route he is running has no railway crossings anymore.

@@acmenipponair Yes I realize that. In Europe they are sensible enough to realize the only way to idiot proof the interaction of rail and automobiles, its to ensure it happens as little as possible. Here? The Automobile rules. And many people die every year because they think they are faster than the train, and they can see a path around the blockades (if any exist that is).

On the other hand, our Swedish trains stop operating when there is a leaf on a track or a little bit of snow. A third common reason is migrants who steal copper wires and stop traffic. We call them zigenare. On the bright side, American trains derail every second day while our trains tend to stay on the tracks.

One of the most critical parts of true high-speed rail is complete grade separation from any other traffic, so horns aren't needed, because there's no crossings, at all.

Thoroughly enjoyed my trip through good farming land and timber forests at a steady but safe speed. Sweden has certainly some delightful scenery and some parts reminded me so much of parts of the UK and also of my time living in New Zealand in the North Island. A lovely video and thank you for providing me with an interesting ride on a very smooth express train.

And THIS is the X2000 class electric consist that Amtrak resisted over the Acela. As usual, the American railroad system falls behind.
@markraciborski4289
@markraciborski4289 21 сағат бұрын
I believe that train has a speed of 125 mph? The DC northeastern corridor, which is the only electric section on that eastern line, is limited in speeds because of tight turning radius, tunnels restrictions. Even the Aclea is throttled back for most of its route, if it hits its top speed is for very short token distances. It's a problem of old infrastructure not upgraded for decades. Trump cut the funds on California's high speed train, it's been restored. The California line, diesel electric is extremely popular. He is also responsible for the Acleas delays as for 4 years the railway had zero support. They have open new long routes, one a 2 days I believe from up north to Florida.

@@jayharder2598 There is another type of expansion joint for long welded rails, it is a longitudinal oblique shunt which causes expansions or retractions to take place in a sliding manner. This is why the rides are very smooth.

I have never been in Sweden and this is the first cabview experience that I have seen of your country. I must say that I am impressed. The ride is extremely smooth, I have seen only a few level crossings, near Stockholm construction seems to have blasted quite a few hills to make way for the tracks (my topographical knowledge is lacking I thought Sweden was mainly hilly inland and not near the coast) and overall it is an idyllic picture to look at with the countryside moving past. There are a few odd things looking at this footage from my Dutch perspective. First trains drive on the left, I assume this is a remnant of the past? Very few station on the line (maybe this is the high speed line and there are other more rural lines or the Swedish interior is very sparsely populated?). And some discontinued small railyards which always hurts my soul, I assume there was more rail traffic way back when and that most of it moved to trucks. Overall a beautiful depiction, thank you.

Because of the environmental impact of losing all that green space that wouldn't be able to recycle the carbon monoxide. Not to mention the fact that politicians can't build anything without making. It cost billions of dollars and taking 1020 years to complete. Remember Obama wanted to start at California's been working on what the same rail system they've spent billions of dollars for 15 years and they finally stop doing it. Besides, why would I want to take a train from? Ohio to California, who wants to go to California? I would just take a plane.

That is a false friend, the Swedish word blizzard means that there are flakes of snow falling from the clouds towards the ground. Another example is the word Sweden which in Sweden means the country between Norway and Finland whereas in the English-speaking world, Sweden means the country squeezed in between France, Italy, Germany and Austria.

It's a carryover from the old convention that applied to the road system as well. The roads were changed to right hand in 1968 was it? And there may still be some awkward spots, like the roundabout south of Skanstullsbron in the Hammarby district of Stockholm. I used to have to pass through there by motorcycle back in the 1980s and it still gives me the shivers.
