7:51:42 Fun fact -- the M18A1 Claymore anti-personnel mine is an electrically detonated sandwich of C4 explosive behind around 700 steel balls that will absolutely SHRED whatever's in front of it. It even has the words "FRONT TOWARD ENEMY" stamped into the plastic outer shell to make it idiot-proof. You can deploy it all sorts of ways -- rig it to a tripwire or unfold the bipod stands and stick them in the ground and angle it whichever way you need it to explode. This scene merely depicts one way to employ it.

6:55:16 I rather enjoy this bit of exposition centered around the T-1000 and around Skynet in particular. From your description, Amy, it can be surprised that Skynet, in achieving self-awareness and sentience, had ascended beyond the simple moniker of "artificial intelligence" and become a living thing of its own, an artificial consciousness. If anything made by Human hand could be afraid, Skynet had certainly been afraid, and it was that fear that drove Skynet to send numerous Terminators and a great and powerful Terminatrix past-ward, to destroy the source of its fear and to ensure its own creation. At times, this act, this event has inspired me to consider that this action had created an overarching timeline to govern all the temporal tributaries to branch off from the principal timestream. And whether one may call it Skynet, Legion, Echelon or whatever else, the principal timeline is Skynet's to manipulate endlessly, creating as many tributaries and branches as possible from the nexus event of the Arrival in the Past that would not only ensure its existence, but protect its creation against those who would have seen to the prevention of Judgment Day and the War against the Machines, to ensure that all branches from the first nexus point aimed squarely and unerringly towards the other nexus event of Judgment Day, pruning the causality tree to ensure the Human Resistance never took root.

@MDBowron4 жыл бұрын
if you look at the cop car computer in T2 it says John Connor was born in 1985 February 28th, if he was 13 in the story it would be set in 1998, technically after Judgement Day at least based on the original timeline, the story having John be 10 makes the year setting 1995, roughly 4 years after the T2 film was made
@amehak19223 жыл бұрын

7:38:55 Another thought occurred to me, about half an hour back as of this entry, that if the T-1000 had arrived at the Dyson residence and found that Dyson himself had been killed, and all his work there and at Cyberdyne destroyed beyond recovery, and the T-800 terminated, that there was still another chance for Skynet to be born, and the T-1000 would then go to ground, prioritising Skynet's protection, and by extension its own, over John Connor's demise. Perhaps hiding in plain sight as a remarkable showman, the Incredible Elastic Man, relegating John Connor to a target of opportunity rather than a top priority and all the while using the knowledge within its molecular memory to facilitate Skynet's creation and installation.

Did you watch the film before reading this? I'm wondering if you might have tried to reproduce the exact emotional overtones in the dialogue. Perhaps it might make for a much more effective delivery during the audio reading. But you've done an excellent job regardless, assuming you hadn't first watched the movie.
@J-Dune Жыл бұрын
I enjoy the energy she brings to each character. It’s a reading of a novel and it’s different from the script or film. So, why’s she supposed to copy the movie? Maybe you need to listen to the movie and skip audiobooks especially with volunteering readers. I still love the ambient noises like traffic, birds, pages turned and the occasional comment from Dearest Reader. ❤
@Robert_Douglass Жыл бұрын
@@J-Dune Like most others, I expect, I did watch the film first, many times, before I ever glanced at the novel. Never got to read the whole thing, but I'm glad to have read at least part of it. It takes nothing away from my love for the film, which is a testament to just how good the film is.

Excellent job but I can't believe how much the ending was changed in the novelization, "I need a vacation" was probably my favorite line in the movie, and the whole "I cannot self terminate" thing was tossed out the window when he just jumped in. Please don't misunderstand Amy, I know it's the writer not you, I'm just disappointed with the changes.
@skepticalbadger4 жыл бұрын
In fact the movie was the change. This was the originally planned and filmed ending.
@amehak19223 жыл бұрын
The writer gets the script months in advance so that the movie and novel come out at the same time. It takes longer to write the novel than to film and edit a movie. Script changes are inevitable by the time the movie starts filming. It's very rare that the movie and novel are 100% consistent with each other.
