I don't know how you do it, Tati. People just want to complain about any damn thing they can. Bottom line is when you pay $40+ for a palette and it performs worse than a maybelline palette, you're allowed to complain. And for everyone saying she's using it wrong, it's effin eyeshadow. It's supposed to go on your eyes. I have the modern renaissance and it does not perform like this. The palette sucks, period.

i always suggest looking online at reviews of potential pallets cause sephora workers get commission pay and usually reccomend the stuff that isnt selling (cause its bad) cause they'll be rewarded heavier

If they marketed it like a lightly pressed pure pigment or a pro palette or put specific instructions on the best way to use it. Then I don't think people would have been so man, but to put this next to the Renaissance palette, which didn't do this, can be easily used by non-professionals, and wasn't pure pigment. and not mention the differences then why on Earth would anyone be expected to know the difference right off the bat? (I'm aware this new palette isn't pure pigment but it acts like one, and I'm now aware that the newer productions of the Renaissance palette also do this now)

Plus there are too many edited scenes while applying the eyeshadow, so I'm still not sure if it's just the eyeshadow or she's just purposely making it look tacky just to say it doesn't work. Re watch the video, there are too many skips and edits. She didn't show the full or even just fast forwarded scene where she really applied and blended.

It doesn't perform well because she's applying way too much of it. Admittedly, this formulation is more powdery and so obviously, it will not work well if you apply too many layers of it as it will just fall off your lids.

It is 42 dollars, and the fall out is terrible and blend ability is IMPOSSIBLE. The issue is that she was basically stabbing her brush in the palette, although she knew that this is a soft pressed palette and then she is a bit dramatic about the fallout (which was her fault because when you touch the shadows more carefully and less in a stabbing or swirling motion it is not that powdery).

Yes the palette is not that great!! I feel like everyone who's commenting hasn't even tried it. It's frustrating to work with, the colors don't blend together, and it gets patchy. I didn't care about the fallout at first but you end up wasting so much product and it ends up falling on the other shadows (Roxy & cube). I gave this palette so many chances because I really wanted it to work but I gave up and returned it

There is soooo much hate here! She isn't jamming her brush into the pallette and then she actually JAMS her brush into another pallette and its fine! I personally love Tati's eye looks so, the fact that this one turned out horrendous says a lot about the product. Also, while you should be gentle with your makeup, it should be user friendly and not need an eye surgeons hand to make it work. Great review, Tati, I love your stuff!

I feel, that if you're purchasing a high end product, it should preform like a high end product. Minimal amounts of fall out is normal, this seems excessive and as far as I am concerned if you purchase this, you're kind of wasting your money because you're wasting product on your floor and messing up your area with all of the fallout . I don't own this product, I just watch a lot of reviews before I purchase something. This palette is not something I will waste my money on. Also, I would just like to say that I am new to Tati's channel and I've started watching her videos from the beginning and she seems the complete same from when she started to now... everyone has to remember that people on KZbin are people, not robots. If she has an off day she has an off day.

I own eye shadow singles by ABH, they're good quality and long lasting (13 hours in a humid hospital). But this palette doesn't seem to be the same quality at all. Looks like it requires a lot of effort to do what their other shadows do easily.

So they marketed these like eyeshadows, but they are really more like pressed pigments. I know you said it isn't a pressed pigment, but if you use it like one it works better. I'm just mad they marketed it as an eyeshadow palette when it is more like pressed pigments, and that they didn't tell us how to use it before they started selling it. Also, I don't really want to have to learn a new technique to apply my eyeshadow.

Q Nizami why though? It's all about technique with any kind of makeup. Just like any other makeup you have to learn how to make it look best. Just like you wet your brush to intensify shimmer shades, you can modify how you use these shadows. Personally I adore this palette. If you know how to use it, it will work out great.

There's nothing "pressed" about it lol the pressing was horribly done, and any shadow is a pressed pigment at the end of the day. If you wanna have loose powder, don't put it in a palette, you know? It was just poor production. They have way too many produced already and they wanna cut their losses as much as they can, so they create an excuse and say it is a "pressed pigment" instead of admitting they had production issues. So it becomes a user problem, not a production problem. Shifting the blame is the only way they can still sell some of the palettes they have in stock.

a lot of the defense I've seen of this palette is 'its soft shadows, you're not supposed to jab or swirl your brush' but tbh if they wanted to market loose pigment shadows they should have done that? what they did was market what is basically loose pigment as pressed shadows and each type requires a totally different approach so they've totally misled people and aren't even doing themselves justice?

I don't get why so many people come on this video and talk crap about how Tati was putting her brush into the shadows. If you watch Tati's videos that means you trust her and her opinion on the products. Every time Tati reviews a popular item everyone is a critic. After all, it's her opinion, and you can choose to trust her or not. So that means you trust her other videos on other products but not this particular review? Hm... But what leverage would she have by conducting a bad review on a fairly popular brand? I did not once feel that Tati gave an unfair review to this palette, she even went so far as to show another palette that she dipped her brush into in the same way, which did not have as much fall out. Tati conducts reviews on products on her channel for a living, and if she says she's never seen a product with this much fall out then I'm going to damn well believe her!! If you go to Ulta's website the palette has 2 stars. If you don't care about fall out and blend-ability then you can go buy the palette, but don't bash Tati's review. And girls, remember, it's just makeup!

I know I'm a year late, but I just recently found Tati and I have to say...she did such a fair review and I was thinking the whole time why are you trying to defend something that's not good? Her shadow looked a mess 😂 and yet I keep reading all these comments criticizing how unfair/biased this review was. She legit used her "very best blending brushes" and primed her eyes with a few products to give this pallette the best base possible. Why should she have to take extra steps to end up with an okay look (esp for her) and even more, I've used elf $5 pallettes that act this way.. not $40 ABH ones. Lastly, I think a lot of you are confusing her goofy aspect of her personality with immaturity. Tati is the perfect blend of professional Queen and teenage bubbly. It's advertised as an eye shadow palette on their website and on Sephora's website, not as pressed pigment which I think is the problem. If advertised as an eye shadow, it should work like an eye shadow. But yeah, other KZbinrs have been able to make it work (no hating on you Tati), so I think it's just personal preference at this point. But totally agree with you FashionFoward, Tati is still my favorite! I'm really enjoying the new videos!

Just read the ABH website and Instagram and no where did it say these are pure pigment or professional grade eyeshadows. The closest it got was "very pigmented" and "full pigment" which after some research I found is not the same as being pure pigment. I also found that they have claimed MR and SC are in the same family, stating they are "double trouble". The palette was created with ABH's "insta family in mind" but if their insta family is composed of makeup lovers, both professionals and your typical makeup obsessed person, why is this palette only for pros now? And if it is only for pros, why wasn't MR a solely professional palette too?

Gladys Mba They're saying it's pressed pigment because the ratio of pigment to bonding agents in the SC shades is way way higher than MR. MR has more bonding agents, making it easier to blend, SC has more pigments, less bonding agents. On one hand, it makes it way more pigmented, on the other hand, harder to blend. So if you're buying it, take that info and ask yourself if you have the skills or patience to blend and work with it, knowing that MR was easier to work with.

Also there is a lot of buzz that there is a pending sale of ABH to a conglomerate company and had to come up with some crazy excuses that the palette is not for the inexperienced. If this was a quote unquote pro palette why wasn't it in the marketing of the item? Why are we all finding out about it now??? All we know is it is supposedly the sister palette of MR... so whoever bought and loved MR palette should absolutely love this. i think tati gave this SUCH a fair shot.. she applied it like a normal shadow and wasn't crazy digging in the palette. I learned a lot about this palette and how it was created and meant for use.. so that definitely changed my mind about how to use this palette which would be totally different than how you would use their other palette or a palette from another brand. It's very pigmented and the shades are "contradicting" where many are opposite of the color wheel so they won't want to blend nicely together... i think this palette would be really pretty for harsh geometric more editorial looks where the colors don't touch of fluff into each other.. which is rare your going to apply shadow like that. So all in all i think there are ways to make this beautiful and ways to make this a disaster. But i think Tati was super respectful and gave this palette a fair shot.

I respect Tati and this review :) I will say, in Subculture’s defence...I do love it! It is powdery and you have to have a very light hand, but I haven’t had any blending issues. And I wore them for 18 hours with no significant fading. It’s like Tati said; it will come down to personal preference, but it isn’t a garbage or irredeemable palate. Majority of these beauty gurus are NOT professional makeup artists as for the subculture palette it's made for PROFESSIONAL makeup artists who know how to work with pure pigments and since this isn't something they are used to obviously there's going to be a lot of negativity about this palette but if you still want to purchase it I would recommend going into a sephora or Ulta and trying it out yourself before buying it!

Not gonna lie, my Modern Renaissance palette has very powdery (yet pigmented) shadows and sometimes it gets on the palette itself. I dip into one of the matte pigments and its just fallout everywhere. I love this palette, it has some of my favorite shades ever but it could be less powdery and not have as much fallout

"You have to understand color theory to use this palette" - JS's Androgyny has veery similar shades and they work and blend well together. A palette, at this point, with so much competition, shouldn't require me to have a damn PhD on colors, if it's all in the same palette, it should all work together. "You have to lightly tap not swirl" I shouldnt have to be that careful with makeup, if it doesn't withstand the bristles of a brush, how will it survive a trip?? or should I wrap it in bubble wrap everytime I take it with me? "They're pressed pigments" No, they were marketed as eyeshadows and they should perform as such. ABH just switched to a cheaper formula and expected everyone to be okay with the fact that it doesn't perform as well as MR, when it was marketed as the night version of MR. None of y'all would be defending it as much as you are if it wasn't a high-end brand.

I own this palette, have barely any fallout. But I don't dip my brush into the shadow, I just put it carefully down in the shadows. Then I build the shadow up. I don't think that you should have to change the way you do your makeup though. But for me, this palette works and I like it a lot😊

I think the issue is that if you try to layer all of the shadows, it trurns really muddy. Most gurus used 4-5 different shadows for a look and not everyone does that. That may be the reason why others didnt have the same issues. I saw mannymua use this, and while the look did turn out okay, it's not the same perfection as he usually does his makeup. Which i also noticed with all the others i saw using it. If u scrap the fallout issues and actually look at how they blend, you will see it looked really muddy and patchy, and im not even an expert at makeup and i notied that with every reviews on this palette.

Vin Gin it is a STUNNING palette with high quality, soft pigments and when used correctly, can make a masterpiece on the eyes. I love the colors of this pallet. Hopefully they will take it off the shelves, re-evaluate the formula, fix it, and do a re-launch in time for the holidays. What a great recovery story that would be. Until then, I think I will save my $$$. Thanks for the review Tati.

I've used mine so many times and it still looks pristine. I can't help but think people are properly going in to this palette to make it look bad? This is a tricky palette to work with but if you treat it with care and spend time on your looks it'll be bomb.
