Couldn't agree more! I think it's a simple (actually, much more complex) case of reward and punishment set in place. Paying taxes is the right thing to do, and evading is the wrong thing. Currently, knowingly or (hopefully) unknowingly, the system punishes people for paying taxes by going after them in the following year's budget to squeeze out the last remaining ounce of wealth from them. Whereas, no money is spent on tax evaders. If I were a consultant to the government, I would tell them that the ROI (Return on Investment) is much higher for money spent on going after those who are evaders and not genuine taxpayers. Every ₹1 spent on going after tax evaders will probably yield something more than ₹1 in revenue, but doing so for taxpayers will get something under ₹1. And most importantly, money spent on going after tax evaders is a sustainable expense. Once they start paying taxes, it will be burdensome to go back. On the contrary, after increasing the burden on your select few taxpayers, you will at some point have to give them relief. Regardless, great video and undoubtedly a historical budget!! ✌🏼✌🏼

50L earning salary guy pay 11 lakh taxes. 50L earning farmer pay 0 taxes. 50L profit business man pay only 3 lakh taxes showing inappropriate and extra expenses. This is unfair. Some businesses use cash. Their income is not taxed. Govt cant track income of all people which makes income taxes unfair for salary class.

One entity is business- so companies can do this, but other entity is person. Who has definite income and will be taxed as usual. Till they don't give huge donation with 80g

Overall good improvement from last time but My problem with Taxation is why only 1% of people have to pay tax and there are lot of freebies given to the people who pay no tax. There should be flat tax for everyone like Scandinavian countries. Also all the changes made are for new tax regime, there is no relaxation old regime. In one hand Government is encouraging everyone to buy a house but other hand there is no tax relaxation for home loan in New Regime

And make education and healthcare free for everyone so that 10%-20% tax won't feel more. then remove GST and VAT completely. Import duty can be same. If things remain same then more and more people will leave country. My point is there should be some kind of benefits for tax payers. Like low interest on loans or discount in hospitalisation. Whats the point of paying large tax but the services we get are like african countries.
