As a soil scientist I completely disagree with what AIM says regarding land. What land can be used for agriculture can absolutely be decided with science, repurposing them for the sake of manufacturing (or infrastructure as is currently being done) beyond a certain extent will absolutely have immediate ramifications on food security, a far bigger internal security issue than what any kind of external aggression and economic instabilities can cause. This is of course a result of AIM not having enough scientific understanding of ecosystems, but it is a bridge we crossed in the 1960s and we don't need to recross it. Where we can beat the Chinese is through our geographical position. Inviting them into the Indian hinterlands and waiting to cut off their supply lines in ambush based pincer movements across a wide swath of territory resulting in huge men/material losses is absolutely possible to do - something that Nehru failed to do with his unpreparedness in the 1950s with his misreading of Chinese Communists and softness for socialism. The other weakness of China is the ability to kill of their export maritime routes, again everything through Malacca, Hormuz and Mandeb can and will be blocked creating huge international disruptions inviting geopolitical and economic pressure on China - which we can aggravate by long range disruption of Chinese food production. Since China is no longer completely food secure due to rapidly changing dietary habits - it imports a lot of food and we can poison their waters remotely - and thus creating significant internal disturbance in China. There are ways to do things, but over estimating our enemy in everything is not a great idea. And China has significant internal insecurities and development disparities and rifts that pre-date the Communist era.
