I am AMAZED at the knowledge Abhijit Mithra possess & 'am reminded of Sadhguru in this regard.Modi's reforms are definitely SLOW because he is careful about the vote bank & winning elections.I fully agree with him regarding consolidation of our HUGE PARAMILITARY FORCES which is too big for our nation & we must give more teeth/training to our territorial army to use as reservists during emergency.We must be concerned about the Russian military hardware we are having after seeing Ukrainian war with Russia.We must mimic Israel in this regard by IMPROVING the old military hardware to prolong it's life rather going for new ones.I do feel that the time is RIGHT for a prolonged world recession & India can't escape from it.Almost all countries are NECK DEEP IN DEBT & hence that is going to be a very painful experience.Ukraine will take years to recover economically & Russia too will LOSE IT'S PRE-EMINENCE as a super power in this war.

I have been an ardent follower for quite sometime now but this is my first ever comment. Hats of to you sir!! Now on the topic of Hindu Rashtra, I beg to differ from AIM lock stock & barrel. In a simple sense, a Hindu Rashtra in my mind should protect & further Hindu Dharma. Is it really happening now? I dare anyone will say YES. I have the below thoughts to make our country a real Hindu Rashtra.. 1. Equal Rights: All the special rights given to Religious Minorities should be removed. ex: Why would an educational institution be categorized as Majority vs Minority? the moment we do that then Minorities get more rights than us. Democracy at its best. 2. Hindus should be allowed to protect, manage & improve their Temples. No interference from Govt. Identify all Temple properties hand them over to Hindus & give them constitutional protection 3. Hindu population across every district should be monitored on an yearly basis by a dharma sansad. Any reduction in Hindu % should be identified & explanation called for from the district administration. Corrective action should be taken immediately 4. Respect for Hindu beliefs & rights should be included in the constitution with a strict penalty for wrong doers. Any organization that is found to violate this law should be banned & all its property confiscated 5. Hindu schools that promotes Hindu way of life & teach Vedas, Gita should be setup by the government across every district & should be run by the temples / mutts in that district 6. All donations to Hindu temples / Mutts & their income / investment should be made completely tax free. 7. Remove Secular, Social from the constitution & declare our country as Hindu Rashtra. Not just words, this should mean any Hindus being wronged in any part of the world, they should have the right to reach out to our Govt for help & our Govt is mandated to provide them all help 8. Create a Swastik Sena [Like a Red Cross], that would be on standby to support Hindus not just in their hour of crisis but even otherwise across the world 9. We should declare Buddhist, Sikhs & Jains as part of our extended family & they enjoy all benefits / rights as that of Hindus [for above points] 10. Last point: Create a world forum & include all countries that have 5% or more Hindus / Buddhist. This should raise the voice against any Hinduphobic activities across the globe & protect our rights, especially the immigrant Hindus rights this mayn't be the complete list, but want to stop here to understand what others think. India doesn’t seem to shy away from socialism in administration but talk of fiscal prudence in military hiring Look at at how every other state in India is mortgaging their assets to out compete with each other on the social benefits that they can offer . Why not military. At least the government owes an explanation on why reforms for the military, but socialism for everything else

The defense forces are excellent resources for the inculcation of patriotic ideals, discipline, skills training and remuneration to address the chronic unemployment problem, and improve self esteem among the youth. Would someone coming out of such a program be prone to burn public property and cause mayhem? , think not. Why not call this a conscription program which at the end of 4 years will permit some to apply for a more permanent status as was done with short service commission officers. I understand that the private sector draws the brightest and the best, and it offers no guarantees. The government should provide guarantees only for the best.

But when he went to visit his son and accidentally broke his arm, his son sent him back with just a crape bandage. And these are supposed to be upper middle class. Also, what kind of remuneration is provided by Indians working in US to their families in India? Compare a Indian plumber working in gulf with Indian software engineer working in the US.

If after spending 50 lakhs on education and expenses, the son is only earning 35k $ per year, there was really no point of making the move abroad. If the son applied his mind and moved heaven and earth, and earned 200k $ per year, the situation is different. A large % of Indians in the US are H1B visa holders and the minimum wage for these folks has to be 60k $ per year by law. So there are people within the entire spectrum. Many of these Indians have no realistic chance of getting a green card. Sree Iyer is one of the older generation Indians who got their green cards very fast. The ones who are on H1B, especially those who entered the US after mid-2000s, have no realistic chance of getting a green card. The queue for these folks are almost a century long, thanks to the country quota law that the US has established since 1965. H1B is sort of a trap, as Indians on those visas cannot switch companies, nor can their spouses work. They are not considered as creditworthy as green card holders or full American citizens and hence lose out on cheap loans for housing, education etc. All this despite them being full tax payers. They also have to be extra careful with traffic violations, fines, getting into fights, as even minor offences can lead them to being denied a green card in future. Given such a perilous existence, many decide to live for themselves and not for their parents or siblings back home in India. They need to save every dollar as their future in the US in uncertain. Some decide to buy citizenships of other countries as a fallback if the US plan gets derailed. Overall, the cohort of Indian parents expecting monthly cheques from kids abroad in the West, is fast depleting.

One other thing is the focus on youthfulness. The Intake even at present is 17 to 23 odd years age. There are few in tradesmen category with slightly higher agr entry such as cooks, masalchi and other trades. These are few in number, very few. So, How is this new system going to make the army any younger?? Even today there are always soldiers in recruit to four years service group - akways. As service increases the responsibilities increase, as dies their age. Now what is going to happen is that there will be soldiers upto four years as before, and suddenly they will vanish in bulk, in their turn, with again new ones entering in but only 25% will be left to duties that higher service experience dictates. There will be just four years guys coming and going and shortfalls will commence at the higher service levels beyond four years. NCO level duty holders will be in short supply because the normal promotions beyond four years will not have personnel available as 75 out of 100 will be out of uniform? So who takes on the responsibilities of NCOs and so on??? This so called ‘great reform’ is no reform. And this will happen when a significant down sizing of the army is already happening!! A major separate project is already on for that. On top of this de-Regimentisation will start. And both fronts will be active. Already because of Covid blamed bad decisions to stop recruiting is starting to have effects. A section of 20 will have 5 or 6. A platoon of 36 will have 25. Where are the troop strengths to fight? You guys take decisions in your comments with out going into the effect on the army and its units. Likewise the Navy and Airforce. Trained technically qualified and experienced people will be in short supply. Try winning the next war with this mess on your hands. btw, i too vote Modi. But am not blind to the mess so many of his poorly thought out decisions, or to the very poorly implemented decisions that are otherwise sound. And he keeps feeding fodder to the cows in Dist. Of Columbia, City of London, Sitos, China, ISI and the clutch of Muslim countries ever ready to pounce. Let me not digress to that, it was just to tell you I am neither a bhakt, nor a Modi hater. So the points do not arise because of dislike to him or his lot, whom I still vote for. To answer the question on Hindu Rashtra - India will be a Hindu Rashtra not if the Govt declares it so. We don't need the Govt of of India to become a Hindu Govt. India will become a Hindu Rashtra if the Hindu civilization evolves even more and becomes better and flourishes in India. This can happen with People of India, not with the Govt of India. Its the people of India that can make India a stronger Hindu Rashtra. Its true that there are many forces that have been working to kill the Hindu civilization in India. Martial Race concept is different from the Regimentisation system that the Indian Army has settled into - the regiment or Paltan ethos is the back bone of the Indian Army and what has held up the Army in every operation or war since independence. It is a system that is working brilliantly. This ethos is set to be taken apart to a great extent. It takes close to four years for the soldiers to get set in the unit they join and further training in specialisations goes way beyond the basic training of nine to twelve months now being sought to be curtailed. Units will hesitate to give advanced and depth training to someone who will vanish in a year or two. Who fills the gap? Wars are fought by units first, armies later. Unit COs are being saddled with one more very serious problem on their already overflowing hands. The violence and protests have led to a loo sided discussion. Certainly discuss the impact on new joinees. But the impact on the armed forces at grass root levels has been completed ignored by quoting plethora of statistics and data. There are duties and responsibilities that soldiers are ready for only after three or four years pass. But 75% will not be there. Even if some are selected to be trained they May decide to pocket the leaving amount and their salaries of four years which will be mostly saved as personal expenses are negligible when clothes, food, shelter etc are taken care of. So many will have 25-30 odd lakhs saved in four years and leave with that even if selected to remain.

I agree with you. Regiment system has served us well and in war its always regiment first, army second. But is this the only way we can stay proficient? There should be a way to combine the positives of both systems. For me some pros of tour of duty are: Will create private militias like Blackwater, Wagner group that big countries like US Russia have. We will get there in 15 years n will need a lot of ex-military young men for private contractor militias. Tour of Duty helps with it. Second Q I want to ask you is: I know it takes 6-7 years to currently fully train a jawan in indian army. But is that a short-coming on our behalf? All other militaties in the world are able to fully train their soldiers much quicker n still produce efficient, productive soldiers. May be increased budget on education within india in future n getting more tech-saavy younger prople will enable us to train soldiers faster than in the past? What r your thoughts?

The regimentation is actually based on the martial races as proposed by the Brits in the 1800s. It was part of the divide and rule strategy where the Brits could channel and give preferential benefits to certain loyal classes as rewards for their sub-national loyalties. The Army should have dismantled this system completely after Independence. The Independence movement showed that Indians from various regions, classes, and castes, could come together for a common cause. This is exactly what the Brits dd not want as it greatly threatened the Empire. The organization of the INA is testament to the fact that Indians can fight for nation first, independent of the regional, caste, class affiliations. The INA defeated the martial races based British Indian Army in Burma and took over parts of the N.E India in WW2. Unfortunately after Independence, the Indian Army did not allow INA personnel and continued with their martial race based recruitment. To sugar coat the term, they refer it as "class units", but underneath it is the same concept. There was a piecemeal operation of forming mixed units and recruitment from newer regions, but true mixing never happened until now.

India should not copy the army recruitment system of US or western countries. Their systems are designed to fill the need with small number of people. They do not have threats on the borders. They send their armies to fight wars in other countries along with armies of those countries and use plenty of resources. USA's role in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanisthan have been dismal, mainly due to lack of manpower.

#HR once we are a Hindu rashtra the first issue it addresses would be that we no longer need to be a secular nation and appease the minorities. Uniform civil code can be applied and there will be no recourse from the Indian constitution for the minorities. Hinduism accepts all other religions but this is not reciprocated by other religions. We need to give preference to Hindus whose loyalty to the country first is an unspoken rule. Islam professes first loyalty to Islam Muhammad and Mecca. Why should the nation give them preference here then. This is a nation that precedes the 1947 constitution and is based on the tenets of Hinduism even if you're an atheist. Why the hell can we not have this written down in the constitution. The minorities and the opposition always use this loophole to further their agendas and narratives to further the proselytising etc. It's time to give first priorities to Hindus and related religions in this country. Other faiths can take a back seat.
