Most of the forts were made inhabitable after the 1857 rebellion to ensure they cant be used again. They built infrastructure to protect and provide a safe haven for commoners during the muslim invasions.They had no desire or the unlimited wealth to built grandiose monuments for aesthetics and beauty. Great discussion sir. I got to know many sub stories around the main ones, which have contributed to the series of victories and reasons for the expansion & sustainance of the Maratha empire. Shivaji Maharaj could kick start all this as he brought different sections of the society together and created a coherent army of devoted warriors. Its survival didn't depend on just the leader but had a solid support system of many of his trusted knights. That's how it progressed even after his sudden demise. Great learning sir. Thank you

I think this guy doesn't have good knowledge of maratha history. He is more of a History Enthusiast, rather than a Historian. For better discussion, You should invite Pranav Mahajan from Maratha History KZbin Channel. Also, Marathas do have history and good empires before Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Era. Eg. The Kadambas of Konkan who had Trade relations with Rome, The Shilaharas of Thane and Panhala, The King of Mahikawati (Modern day Mahim of Mumbai), Also there is a Claim that Satvahana's were Marathi and origined from Andar Maval region of Pune (As a Huge amount of Coins and Other Sculptures are found in this region) , Instead of Andhra Pradesh, Western Chalukya Dynasty, The Mighty Yadavas who patronized Marathi and under whose rule Bhakti Movement Flourished, The Rashtrakutas who are basically the origins of Marathas. Rastrakutas is a Sanskritized version of Ratthas, these Ratthas expanded their territory and started calling themselves Maharatthas which later corrupted and became Marathas, then there were The Original More's Of Jawali who had an interesting administration system, there were 8 More's who were tightly united and they used to vote one of them as Chandrarao, who is supposed to be their leader. There is an Amazing Battle which the More's and Surve's fought against the Bahamani sultan and defeated him and kept Konkan and Jawali Independent, There were also Vakataka's of Vidarbha during the Golden Age of India (Gupta Era). Basically my point is there are many things to talk about when it comes to origins of Marathas, Pre Shivaji Maharaj History of Marathas and History of Maharashtra in General. But this guy just skipped everything 😅

We want to know about history of Bihar Bengal Orissa and Assam . I don't remember but a Bengali said to me there was a Bengali king who conquered whole Europe thereafter Europeans are also known as white Bengali . Is it true ? Also Greeks texts say patliputra is the world's strongest kingdom so why Bihar become so backward . I want to know more about Kalinga kingdom history which is very rich which still sees in their magnificent architecture . And Assam history . I can see that Assam people's have warrior spirit.

Magadh ( Bihar) was a great province of ancient India, Pataliputra has served as the capital of the great Mauryan and the Gupta empire. The Muslims destroyed the culture of Magadh and the British made Bihar and Bengal poor. Ahom Kingdom of Assam defeated the Mughals seventeen times. I do NOT know any Bengali King that conquered Europe. You can do research about Ahom Kingdom, Gupta empire and Mauryan empire. I hope that kind of answers your question.

According to Sir Jadunath Sarkar in the period of 4 months between 1679 and 1680 Shivaji Maharaj undertook the defence of Bijapur to defend the invading Mughal army led by Diler Khan and in the Bijapur territory several skirmishes took place between Maratha and Mughal army. To divert Mughal army Shivaji Maharaj began to raid several Mughal territory but it was not unbroken success as he got defeated by Diler Khan. Later he sacked Jalna a prominent trade center and on his return he expelled Diler from Bijapur and recovered Bhupalgad from Mughals and appointed Moropant in another campaign ( but Sir Sarkar didn't agree the last part as he stated Shiva was pre-occupied by domestic trouble then,but Maratha documents suggest it). And it's the last campaign of Shivaji Maharaj. There is another dispute as Sir Sarkar stated that Battle of Salher (one of the prestigious battle ) was led by Shivaji Maharaj but many sources tell Marathas being led by Pratap Rao in these conflict.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I'm curious why didn't Martha's take revenge when chatrapati Shivaji's son Sambhaji was being tortured.. ??? They shouldn't have spared Mughals.
@virajdeshmukh90012 жыл бұрын
Actually there were several attempts made to free Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj but they failed. It was because Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was kept in an open field with 5 lakhs Mughal army surrounding and not in a fort or something. So it was kind of not practical and illogical to start a war in an open field with 5 lakh Mughals and Marathas also didn't had that much amry with them too. But there were several attempts made to free them (Sambhaji Maharaj and Kavi kalash). It is also said that his quite close friend and one of his close body guard Sardar Rayappa was going to be successful but missed it by bearest margin and he too was killed. So to answer your question in an open field it was not practical to start a war with such a huge army of Mughals if they would have the who knows the decline of Marathas would have started by then only.

I have spent 5 years in Maharashtra. Marathas are not of bulky build like punjabis or pathans but they are determined. They defeated afghans , portugues and turks. It depends upon the spirit inside. Being a Bengli our main problem are secular sleepy joes marxists - who want Hindus in wbengal to be acceptable to islamic honchos in Dhaka who openly support pakistan and support ISIS , Hamas and al-queda in their hearts.
