He need to to be called Chatrapati etc is on the line of Shiv Sena (where in his name they erected their own forts neglecting the forts of their great idol). Where if you ask just one question to them "What makes Shivaji different from other Indian kings...." they won't be able to answer the shit. Thank you 2. and are you sure that Shivaji fought for Sanatan Dharma and not for an independent kingdom of Marathas that he could rule ? Because he did ally with Muslim kingdoms like Bijapur and Golconda when it suited his needs. E.g. his alliance with Qutubshah of Golconda (a Muslin ruler) was established by Shivaji saying that the southern part of India, i.e. the Deccan Plateau should be free from the rule from north India (i.e. Delhi). He used regionalism, not Sanatan Dharma, to form an alliance with a Muslim ruler to oppose a common enemy, i.e. Mughals. Shivaji is also noted for hiring many Muslim mercenaries, Portuguese and Goan Christian converts into his navy because of their experience and prowess in naval combat. Religion is but a tool for leaders to mobilize people for their cause.

We had Elephants as main source of warfare. The reason the journey from Kabul to Delhi took 500 years was that they had horses and we had elephants. We were always at a better height to fight them off. Elephants were so important that it's associated with wealth as well as Power.... Laxmi as well as Indra... Can see the glimpses in South still. North had Hastinapur named on elephants (Hasti = Elephant in Sanskrit). The reason we started losing was because the enemies learned how to stand on horses while riding them. Now the height factor was equalised but they got the speed. - I think these facts were stated by Sanjeev Sanyal.

It was hard work to follow but talk was priceless. Lots of information. Abdali won Panipat battle but lost the war badly as he fled from Delhi within two weeks of Panipat due to fear of the Maratha army which was marching towards Delhi to confront him. Abdali lost will and bottle to fight. He accepted all the conditions and demands of Marthas. No victorious general ever accept condition of a defeated army. On his way back through Punjab, Sikhs looted his army and caravan and Abdali reached Afghanistan empty handed.

Great subject with great detailed coverage. But could have been a better presentation and telling story. Nevertheless I learnt a lot about the fire power of Marathas post Shivaji Maharaj, especially the Peshwas who held most of India till British took over in early 1800s, otherwise a fake story told by left ist historians that Britishers got the power from Moghuls😂
