Details of Islamic invasion were action packed and more recent and had more impact on the present day India and hence were more in detail. However I can agree there were few which were not taught.

Thanks for the suggestions... I too belong to the generation that was taught rubbish as Indian history while in school. But my mother, who has an avid interest in history, used to tell us, "Though you are reading it to get marks, don't believe in it, truth is something else". So I used to write good things about Gandhi in exams, for example, but believed that truth was something else...For years, I had this discomfort in my mind about having 2 interpretations about a historical incident, one that was in NCERT textbooks, and one that is, the half spoken truth that my mother told me...Now I am happy that people are opening up to knowing the reality, and your suggestions and podcasts are definitely helping...

With your permission I would like to add to this list the following books: Pandit Kota Venkatachelam’s many books on Ancient India, and particularly “The Plot in Indian Chronology “ by Pandit Kota Venkatachelam. This book will begin the serious student on a search for the true history of Bharath that will lead him/her into brave territories. “The Chronology of Ancient India : Victim of Concoctions and Distortions” by Vedveer Arya “ Tamil Nadu - Land of The Vedas” and other books by Sri R. Nagaswamy - Historian, archaeologist, epigraphist. Re-conceptualizing India Studies by SN Balagangadhara Age of the Nandas and Mauryas’ by Sri K.A. Nilakantha Sastri. And other books by him. Chandragupta Maurya and His Times’ by Radhakumud Mookherji There is another book brought out by Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, authored by Sri KN Munshi and Sri RC Majumdhar on the Mauryas. These are just a few. I would also suggest reading the brilliant articles being written on the Charithra of Bharath by very dedicated persons and scholars with. Bharathiyathva in their hearts. Also anyone with sensitive and sharp antennae will pick up history from many unexpected encounters. For example, observe the stance of Hammurabi who was the King of Babylon about 3700 years ago, as he stands in front of the Deity Shamash. Can we read the connection with ancient Bharath from just the stance? Then again, the reading of the Dasrajnya Yuddha in the Rg Vedha is fascinating and strangely may be able to help recover the lost history of very ancient Europe. I sincerely think we need here on our land, a fully empowered University dedicated only to the study of our history, civilization and culture, and which is free of the machinations and interference of non-scholastic entities with agendas.

@Himanshu Khichar if guptas, mauryas, kanishka, are great why did they lose to muslim rulers who came from long way?? If south indian or western indian kings are so small why they could hold their lands against islamic empire for long time? Even now Mr.modi is talking in speeches about literary work from tamil, tirukural which was apart from religious and philosophical to all people. Tamil and telugu have good literary works. Do you know what is a classical language? All four south indian languages are classical which has true literary works and culture in it. Only sanskrit is a classical language and not hindi. You are a byproduct of western narrative and muslimised narrative of indian history. You are a stupid in a level that no one can rescue.. I dont want to compare kings from north and south . Both have their greatness of their own. No one is superior to others .. all are equal. thats what everyone need for a united india..

When you’re recommending a book please hold it close enough to the camera so that viewers can clearly read the title of the book and the name of the author and can note them easily. I’m interested in the books you have recommended and will be buying most of them as well as suggesting them to my colleagues and friends. Your work is of vital cultural significance as it gives a much needed counter-perspective to the narratives of Marxist historians.

Best book about india is always Al beruni's India till 11th century. Nobody in this world can challenge al beruni books with scientific evidences. It is most respectable traveller who visited India and written reality. I am indian myself but i don't figured it out why we don't want to accept our reality it is necessary that we are world number 1 without doing anything..we are classified as third world country. And we can only change it by accepting our reality and working on scientific temperament and quality education not by dismissing everyone who write reality. I hope you will become aware.

Apart from the books mentioned, I recommend reading classical texts preferably in Hindi. For example, Arthshastra (Chaukhamba), Panchtantra, Kathasartia Sagar by Somdev, Rajtarangini, Kamsutra, Puranas such as Vishnu Purana by Geeta Press Gorakhpur, Cilappatikaram, Abhigyan Shakuntalam, Bhoja Prabandham, Betal Pacchisi, and even Vrindavan Lal Verma's books on Lalitaditya, Jhansi ki Rani etc. Not only they are reflection of our Sanskriti, heritage but are also immensely literary enriched.

Abhijitji, I have read "Tony joseph" book (early Indians), he has a meticulously filtered language to divide North and South India. Why can't you write complete history of India in a series (may be a project), all information in one series, it is a humble request :) Thanks a lot for the list, in fact I have two books from your recommendations Michel Danino's book and B L Basham (surprisingly I have Basham's book in Kannada translation, translated by D. R Mirji). The rest I will buy and read it for sure.
@MridulBarshiliaforReal3 жыл бұрын
Abhijit Sir is a theoretical physicist who must be a really busy man considering the nature of his calling. Unlike Abhijit Ji, Tony Joseph is a leech whose full time job is to spew anti-Bharat and Anti-vedic narrative doing the bidding of his leftist masters. Plus even is he or someone else like him manages to write a book(Sanjeev Sanyal has, you can read his books) they'll be attacked by the lobby within and outside this country and will be branded pseudohistory because of the sheer monopoly the west has over setting historical narratives. True change will only arrive when we have a govt with enough balls to revamp the history books and carry out indigenous research to counter the west.

The Struggle for Empire 6. The Delhi Sultanate 7. The Mughal Empire 8. The Maratha Supremacy 9. The British Paramountcy and Indian Renaissance part I 10. The British Paramountcy and Indian Renaissance part II 11. The Struggle for Freedom These books were written by a team of 80 historians. Read from the 1st page don't start with Chapter Preface etc. are also good. Spread it to others too if possible. You can buy it from Amazon/flipcart too but since these are a bit costly so try reading it online or from pdf of the link mentioned then make decision. Note: Aryan Invasion Theory was still prominent while writing the books so you must keep that fact in mind. Yaa but for British time (last 3 books) During Mughals and Maratha (5 6 7 8th books) are ok. Rest are ok too since nothing is waste.
