Hi Abhishek, I use Windows 10 (64-bit). I first installed MikTex, then Texmaker, and then tried writing a sample document. However, it could not compile and flashed the message 'Could not start the command. pdflatex -synctex=1 -interaction=nonstopmode %.tex' What could be the reason.

Check where is the "bin" folder for MikTex (generally under the user); open Texmaker setting; Under Commands u can see Latex, PdfLatex etc and in the box "Pdflatex-synctex=1-interaction =nonstopmode%.tex " this wud be mentioned; click on the browse icon beside the box where filename has to be mentioned and browse for the bin; under bin folder u can choose latex , pdflatex etc as mentioned in the Texmaker command setting window; after setting the filename try compiling again.
