A prayer for God to stay with the speaker throughout life and in death, it was written by Lyte in 1847 as he was dying from tuberculosis. Thanks for the upload. This is my most awaited annual event. As a child I used to be fascinated every Jan 29 waiting for Abide with Me on Doordarshan. As I grew up the fascination turned to a deep sense of respect and understanding. I am humbled to admit that for over 40 years - India or overseas, I have not missed a single Beating the Retreat transmission live from Vijay Chowk, and all for this wonderful hymn, Abide With Me.
