The stallion of the Cimarron was one of the best horse movies out there. Little creek doesn't 'tame' him and suddenly get to ride him because spirit decided he liked this half-baked two-leg he just met. Their friendship is built on mutual respect for eachother

This was one of the reasons The Black Stallion also tended to resonate with me. Been a while, so I'm forgetting names, but the boy and the horse built up a friendship over the course of weeks alone on an island and only won each other's trust after that whole ordeal.

All of the movie companies that are thinking of making a horse movie this year need to look at spirit:stallion of the cimarron and take NOTES because you don't just walk up to a horse and randomly tame it! You need time and smarts about horses....and treats! Sorta.

this is one of the reasons i hate most horse movies or avoided to watch. them they always portray that a liygirl has this magical power to tame a wild horse and its just not true lol i think thats why i’ve always liked spirit because it was realistic. the graphics were beautiful and the soundtrack was awesome and it was just realistic!

Right? I loved how, in the original, Little Creek and Spirits friendship developed over time and mutial respect (even if Spirit is a bit more "playful"). Trust and friendship needs to be earned. That's something most newer horse movies don't understand.

one thing i didn't like about it: Spirit was deemed untamable. no one could take him, no one could keep him bound and no one could turn him into a military horse. not even the best tamers could tame him but a little girl did.

Just wanted to add that horses have a limit to how many apples they can eat in a day. That limit is two. I couldn't even watch the movie properly because I kept focusing on how sick Spirit was gonna be! Love these CinemaSins copy videos. Keep it up!

If this movie was something seperate from the original I wouldn't mind, but they just *had* to drag Spirit through the mud. The animation and the story is just so average and nothing special at all. I agree with you that the animation and design of the horses is horrible. I'm all for stylized horses. Just look at Mulan and the Road to El Dorado. Horses in these movies had their own unique style but still had wonderful animation and looked like horses. The original was beautiful, had a strong storyline, stunning music and well established characters. You know, all the things that make a good movie... Notice how all of these points are missing in the new movie??? The pop music hurts my ears and the story makes me angry. Little Creek had to build trust. It took months for Spirit to trust Little Creek and would only let him ride in an emergency... and here we have Lucky who gives Spirit one freaking apple and they are best friends. This bothers me so much I can't even At least he returns to the wild in the end. Credits for that

My little cousin is in love with this movie, she just keeps laughing at the horses (or every other animal) and make it trough the end without letting you hear a thing if you watch it with her, I'm glad I found this video and got a quick recap😂 I admit that the villains surprised me, usually in kids' movies (except those with the most iconic villains of course) they are either comedy villains or villains that will get extra soft for some reason and with a specific someone, to see actually realistic outlaws and actual violence moment was a pleasant surprise, not in the sense of enjoying horses getting beaten and a kid on the verge of getting "kissed" by a crowbar obviously, just a: "Oh, an actual realistic and real villain instead of a misenderstood poor boy that became evil 'cause someone stole his pencil back in school and that will magically change at the end? Finally!" (I like both kind of villains, but some trophes are overused)

What annoys me the most about the character design is that ever since Frozen, all the faces of female main characters in recent cgi movies look the same. The noses are ridiculously low (since when do human faces have snouts instead of noses?) the eyes are super far apart (which makes the characters perpetually cross eyed) and the mouths are extremely small. just... WHY?

To be fair, you likely wouldn't hear the train coming through the fog or see it till it is well too late to get out of the way. Fog dampens noises so by the time you heard the train it would already be on top of you but that is also ignoring the fact that trains aren't as loud as one would think as the noise is generally from rail joints and from when the train is starting up to get to speed, it is not constantly chugging

Frankly, it’s not a terrible movie on its own for children. I took my 4 year old sibling to the theaters (same age I was when I saw Spirit) and it wasn’t anything that I didn’t expect, it was actually better. There’s good morals (be kind to animals and stand up for what is right despite what others think) and not too many fart jokes, in fact very cute humor. The animation is pretty okay, there’s elements that aren’t great, there are interesting hair physics, the horses were a bit chunky and the villain had too goofy expressions. But the backgrounds and world building are great, the film pays plenty of nods to 19th century culture. All in all it can be a good film. But it’s riding the coattails of the legendary film, which had the potential to have its own franchise without slapping on a Spirit knockoff. I did appreciate all the Easter eggs, though. If it was its own and we changed Spirit Jr’s character I doubt it would get such a bad rep. But by then they would REALLY owe us an acceptable Spirit sequel.

I honestly love the original spirit stallion of the cimarron movie, and I’m also a fan of the show, but this is just terrible. THE LOW BUDGET KID SHOW WAS MADE BETTER THAN THIS imo. But some people may like this movie and I respect that. I’m just not a fan of the animation and the art style

Honestly, this movie made me want to laugh and cry. Like you said, it's not even worth comparing to the original. Just wanted to mention, those character models were hideous. Both horses and humans. I think this movie isn't quite uncanny valley material, but definitely not great on the animation side of things.

Spirit Jr's neck is 70% of his goddamn body, I think it's even longer than his whole leg from coffin to withers in some scenes. Whoever modeled him needs a slap and a new pair of glasses because holy god his model is ugly. There's so many fan models that are better.

I love that you were going over this because there are so many movies that are not right. And their are kids watching and if the child sees horse in the pasture and feeds a horse with their thumb up like you said they would lose their finger. Also it’s better if you cut apples in half instead of giving a horse or cow a full apple because they could choke. Also you should NEVER ride a horse you have NEVER seen or known in your life. We need more Questions making realistic horse movies. But people who are making horse movies and don’t know a lot about horses are gonna end up hurting a lot of kids. This movie has some cute sayings and scenes. But a girl who does not know ANYTHING about horses is jumping bare back off a boat, and off a bridge. Also love your videos keep being Horse-some.

Because the writers were lazy af. It's literally just a bad retelling of the original but dumbed down to offensive levels. They just ripped the same story beats and even many of the sceen are the same shot for shot. It's a cash grab to sell toys off the back of the hard work of the original team.

One (or more) thing(s) wrong about this movie and show: Spirit was tamed by a 12-year old pre-teenage girl, no connection to Native Americans, nor freedom. One thing wrong about Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron: Absolutely nothing. It was a masterpiece.

Nein, Spirit stallion of the Cimarron wird so sehr unterschätzt, nicht dieser Film, nicht der neue würde ich mal sagen. Der neue wird viel zu sehr geschätzt dafür das er nur billiger Abklatsch von sämtlichen Pferde Filmen ist, eigentlich währe es sogar noch besser gewesen wenn dir Serie und der neue Film noch nicht mal erschienen währen. Der erste ist wirklich ein Meisterwerk, der neue ist einfach nur bullshit, genauso wie die Serie, wenn man den originalen Film nicht mag aber das neue schon, dann finde ich das man einfach einen sehr schlechten Geschmack hat.
