Um Cara Qualquer How romantic of John Lennon to forget the lyrics twice! of his paean to his obnoxious and untalented girl friend, Yoko Ono, during the sloppy Apple Studios rooftop concert on January 30,1969. One of those performances was originally included in the "Let It Be" film, with the flubbed lyrics, for all to see. The people who mixed the "Let It Be...Naked" version of "Don't Let Me Down", had to combine two performances on the rooftop gig to make one whole version without the Lennon flubbing of the lyrics at different parts of the song. I've never understood why Producer Phil Spector didn't include the studio "B" Side version of "Don't Let Me Down" on the original "Let It Be" album but included the dreadful throwaways "Dig A Pony" and "Dig It"!!!

People today don’t realize Lennon was the actual king of rock’ roll. He was the one people followed, the press was fascinated by, the one other guys wanted to play with, the one doing an entire week on a talk show, giving one of the great Playboy interviews, preaching peace and love. And by remaining a bit aloof and not needing the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle and the adulation and even walking away for a while it made him more legendary. There’s a reason 40 years after his death thousands of people still gather in Central Park each year. He’s still the only celebrity death that I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard.
