There's one little feature I've been dying for... when I select a span of time on a track in Arrangement View, and then look in the automation dropdown, I want a separate marking (maybe a hollow dot) for parameters that have automation points BUT NOT IN THE SELECTION! Right now I have to go through 15 different automations to figure out which 2 are actually active in the two bars I've selected.

Those MIDI changes definitely are the best thing for psytrance music. Since it uses a lot of randomly notes, those changes can help us create patterns easily and we can visually see what's going on the MIDI. I use Rhytmizer (made by Jumpstreet) which is almost the same thing. Nice!

To be honest with you, personally, it's a letdown from Ableton for me. When you compare it to the free updates you receive in FL Studio, this seems like a joke. I believe everyone needs to decide for themselves what they want from their DAW, but as a professional who has been using Ableton for 10 years, the new version doesn't offer enough to justify the upgrade cost. There's nothing groundbreaking, and it looks almost identical to version 11. FL Studio alone introduced several impressive features in a free update, including AI Stem extraction, a Mastering option during song export, customizable piano roll scripts that the community can write on their own, text-to-chords functionality, and more. This is coming from an Ableton power user, and I must admit, it's a bit disappointing in comparison.

Most of those midi improvements have been done for years with various hacks using native plugins. Really cool they have these features now. I'm going to upgrade because it's $5 / month considering a major release every 3 years. Still not being able to freeze groups is pretty awkward, the greatest advantage of grouping stuff is saving cpu. But then if you put too many plugins in the chain you end up regretting not processing each thing individually and then freezing each. Sometimes it is even worth having mostly similar chains for multiple channels just so you can freeze them
@dreamlandsociety5842
@dreamlandsociety5842 Жыл бұрын
It is actually possible to freeze groups. Through a little Workaround though. Just set up a Compressor preset where the DRY/WET is set to zero, and the Filter section is turned OFF. Load this Compressor on a new empty MIDI track. Set the group you want to Freeze as Sidechain Input of the Compressor. Now draw a Midi clip on that track for the length you want to freeze. Freeze the MIDI track with the Comp and you have Frozen your Group. It's easier as it sounds. Just in case you did not know about it. A simple button would be more than welcome though.

@@chadhowat3392 VST plugin codes ran inside a virtual environment isolated from the DAW. It protects the project from crashing when a plugin suddenly fails. I bet they've not fixed the problem that happens when you audition loops the playback stops when you adjust the preview volume. Simple thing but major oversight. Also would be nice to be able to EQ what you're previewing, like rolling off bass, so you don't have to drag a loop in first to see if it'll fit with the bass removed. Ableton seem to overlook the obvious small things that will improve workflow.

I for one don’t want AI features to be built in. The DAW should be a very stable platform. A project saved today should sound the same in any future version. If a DAW starts to provide some features, e.g. an instrument or an effect, it better keep it the same or backward compatible forever. AI features are still quickly evolving, the state of the art stem separation or auto mastering algorithms may be obsolete in a year. It’s what plugins are supposed to cover. Explore and iterate.

I think as artists we need to be consistent on what we want from AI. If we want a bunch of AI-enabled tools in our workflow, it's difficult to maintain the position that our work can't be used as training material, because where else is the AI going to learn from? I can see both sides of the permission argument, but I personally come down on the side of I spent decades training my wetware neural network on other people's music and I don't mind if my work is used. But I just make music for myself and don't rely on it for my living so that's a pretty easy position to take from my view in the cheap seats.

I got from the telling, that people can create m4l as midi transformers/modulators. This is the place to add AI and i guess there will be a lot of ideas from the community.

Purchased Live 11 a few days ago. Website said release of Live 12 will be early 2024. Is it really out now? If so, how can I upgrade?

There are two futures that i want: piano poll with notes, like guitar pro, or cubase and ability to turn audio samples...😢

Dynamic EQ = use Envelope Follower to modulate EQ8's node(s). I know it's a workaround, but it ...works :) BTW, great video - thanks!!!

Youre talking about sidechain eq. It is not the same as dynamic eq

@@omegalitico No, I'm not. You can run Envelope Follower on the same signal that will further be "equalized".

I'd like to be able to toggle a single-click for adding/dragging a note (I don't want to enter 'pen mode' though) - double-clicking every time I add a note is kinda dumb.

I wanted to be able to detach the devices and resize them. Like a plugin. No idea why they won't add this feature. Max devices can already do it so no reason why they won't. Those tiny devices are hard to see on a big monitor at a distance in a big studio.
