I really have to say this. Most of my life, I'd been a quitter. I never finish things. I'm almost half way there. I'll make sure I finish this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssss! We keep moving. When I produce my hits, I'll shout out to you because this takes a damn lot brother. I say a big thank you man!

I hope you have kept with it. This stuff is very complicated and takes years to master. I tried to get into electronic production in 2010 and was with it for about a year. I got discouraged because I wanted to make music that sounded good and other people enjoyed, but couldn't do it after a year. I quit due to the frustration and only recently got back into it. If I had stayed with it I could be where I wanted to skills wise, but due to quitting I'm right where I left off so many years ago. Nowadays I just want to enjoy myself and if I never make a hit record I'm fine with that. Most people don't ever make a hit record in their life. The key is just to have fun and learn along the way. Best of luck to you.

This was fantastic. I've been using reverb in logic for years and never knew how everything functions. I just switched to Ableton and am finding these tutorials surprisingly deep and informative. Thank you

thank you for this series man! Very excited for the compressor episode. I have been watching you for years and I trust you will finally explain what it does. I have found countless videos but i still don't understand what to look for. I understand that it cuts the peaks and makes the sound louder. so essentially making it more compact. I understand that the attack makes the compressor start later or earlier. I understand that the threshold makes the compressor, compress softer or harder. I understand that release is when it releases but these are all just words. wtf am i actually listening for lol! every master or mixing video i see people compress and im trying to understand what to listen for. or what a compressor sounds like. they say "it glues the track together" or "it gives the sound something nice". People compress to make things tighter, or claps snap, make the sound stand out. But im trying to figure out what all of those things sound like. When to use a compressor or not. I hope you know what i mean. With reverb i can hear what its doing, the same with delay. but what does a compressor do and sound like? i heard that compressing your bass is something that sounds great in every track because it gives it a punch and a tight slap in the chest. Thank you blessings

Everything is very simple. The compressor starts to work every time the volume of the signal exceeds the threshold you set. Threshold - is a range from 0 db to your threshold to which sound will be compressed. Attack - time before compressor starts Release - compressor operating time in ms Ratio - the number by which the signal will be divided. Example: -10db (threshold) \ 2 (ratio) = -5db (volume) The compressor does not increase the volume, it decreases it, making transients quieter. After all, you need to twist and listen.

But when usually low frequencies go through objects, isn't it then unnatural to make a high pass in the diffusion network?

the ultimate is a good starting point. Start from the first video and go through the whole playlist. Treat each video like a uni lecture. Watch and mimic what he does while taking notes.
