Ned Rush is an infotaining universe of ideas for ways to make music, including areas of music production, music composition, sampling, synthesisers and sound design in software like Ableton, MaxMSP, Reason, and on hardware such as eurorack modular, Elektron boxes like the Octatrack and Analog Rytm, also visual art strategies using Jitter, focusing on music genres such electronica, IDM, glitch, jungle, breakcore, electro-acoustic, musique concrete, as well as discussing music via interviews and podcasts, and music performances via livestreams.

The main thing for the CC Control tool would probably be to be able to set up a preset device so you could easily control any hardware synth without having to look up the CCs in the back of the manuals. Just build some CC Control racks and then any time you load up your External Instrument device have the CC control be racked with it and now you can quickly automate those parameters. It’s my most hyped new feature tbh.

In 10:30 you are using the similarity search in your Breaks favorites. While you can do that, you get a lot more out of the feature by letting it search in the All or Samples categories. Otherwise, you just get a very small subset of samples.

Another feature I don’t think you talked about is note probability groups where you can set the probability a whole load of notes will play or not. Would be good for drum fills of multiple notes. (Apologies of you did talk about it!)

With mid-side, you can apply stuff to the center of the stereo image and to the sides independently. You can really make some interesting widening effects or just plain chaos if ya want.

Yes. That curve is also in the version in 11.

@@NedRushI just tried while watching the stream and the curve in 11 is very restricted. There’s just one parameter for how strong the curve is, that’s it If in 12 it would be possible to freely draw it like Shaper, that would be a big deal! But I’ve not been able to get a definitive answer

Yeah that's what I was meaning. Logic has had this for a while. Not that I know Logic as fluently as I do Live. I know Isotonik have their Smart XL script I believe it's called, a little too forensic for me though. Basically I still deeply miss Bento San's Mapulator. It's pretty remarkable what one can achieve with decently customisable maps. Honeymapper gets me over the line in most situations. Don't need all the filters or EQ shapes Live has on offer, or much care for the order they are scrolled through? Just draw a mapping that agrees with your application specific needs. I've also found I can tweak (slight 'S' curve) the low band on EQ 3, which seems to get it much closer to Pioneer DJ style EQ sound than some of the other hacks I've heard about. @@RJ_Eckie

Cancelled my preorder after I realized most of the good stuff in 12 already exists in the M4L scene and has for a long time - see the free instant haus generative midi sequencer for example. Also try out the free Ruina plugin if you want some Roar-like distortion. And drum racks with hot swapping samples is a pretty old idea too and can be done with sample select. I do like the UI updates and tagging feature but can't see the value in upgrading right now especially from 11 suite.

Advanced midi notes edition in piano roll is available and much improved in FL studio since early 2000's (for example you can pitch bend notes seperately in a chord by using different colors, and of course you can chop, strum, trim, arpeggiate, humanize, randomize, and more...) . It's a shame that Ableton add this in 2023.

After 20 minutes of this has made me decide to stick with version 11... more and more stuff that's unnecessary to create good tracks.. there are so many new cheats that are music AI generated the essence of actually doing everything from emotion is being lost... everyone is in a hurry, music will never be like it used to be, actually learning an instrument and creating your own samples and recordings.. art is about creation from nothing not having algorithms doing it for you, but new generations don't understand this concept.. well some..

Not gonna lie, Ableton looks so abstracted from the actual notes you play. Not appealing to me. I love seeing what you do in it, but I don't think I'd ever get anything actually done in this software. I wouldn't have the patience.

My guess is that they’re commenting on how there isn’t visualization for the majority of the internal modulation options. which I agree is questionable design - they’re kinda doubling down on the excel spreadsheet meme by exposing modulation only through a massive mod matrix table
