@@jonasharp3 Glad you finally saw the light, every day our -cult- community grows stronger is a good day But yeah really if you have like any interest in sound design, it's just utterly incomparable. Also the piano roll + midi/audio operators, the audio clip features, just so much stuff I couldn't live without.
@jonasharp38 ай бұрын
@@KnzoVortex it’s so intuitive too. I’ve only spent 10 days on it, and I’ve made a generative sequencer, and a number of patches that modulate 3rd party VSTs. I do love the grid, but honestly the top features for me are global modulators and containers. Just those two open up almost infinite possibilities.
@KnzoVortex8 ай бұрын
@@jonasharp3Hey you got a discord or something, I'd love to talk more in depth about this kinda stuff (If you don't want to that's obviously cool too). But yeah Bitwig modulators are definitely the glaring feature that makes Bitwig just seem so much more cracked than everything else fs. And yeah the intuitiveness is definitely another huge plus I don't really think about much being a relatively long time user, but yeah everything is almost like too easy, I don't think there's a single thing in the dam software that isn't like as simple as possible. The Grid is definitely it's own thing. Bitwig is one of those companies where the founders have an unwavering vision for what the software will be, and it shows. I like the Grid, I could like it more, it's definitely got it's specialties and particularities, but if you spend some time with it can become an essential part of your production in various ways. It definitely lends itself to certain types of synth patches and sounds, though that range is still obviously quite big being a modular thing, and it can be a cool color amidst your vst collection. I use it relatively often as a synth in my music for its ease of use and for the sounds I can quickly and easily get from it, so my patches are often pretty simple. I know that if I wanted I could honestly spend more time coming up with various techniques and experimenting. Its also really really useful for making certain types of effects Bitwig doesn't have natively, kind of like how one would use M4L but a little more limited, but you can also mod your effects on the fly super easily. Once I figured out Ableton's erosion is basically just a modulated delay tap, I made a sick beefed up Erosion simulation in FX grid, which is abundantly easy with their mod delay module. Also made a 3 band dynamic EQ for ducking you melodic stuff to drums which I use like all the time. Also made a simple chaotic wow/flutter effect. A really cool glitchy stereo beat stutterer which is sick for complex sounding idm drums or just complex textures, Some other stuff too. So much cool stuff to do there.

I was using Ableton 11 on a windows 10 machine which was a gigabyte micro-atx with an AMD Ryzen threadripper first gen. Sometime in 2022 one of the updates for Windows caused my machine to freeze and crash about every hour. Running Ableton 11, it would crash much more frequently. Each track in Ableton uses a processing thread and my suspicion is that the way Windows handles multi-threaded behavior is conflicting with something in the hardware setup I had. I am not saying this is the problem but it is very similar to one I had on Windows 10, crash crash crash crash. I gave up and moved to Apple M-series hardware and have not had the issue since and not at all with Ableton 12 beta.
