Want to know more about Ableton Live's Beat Repeat? Watch the full course on sonicacademy.com
P-LASK is back with us again this week to take an in-depth look at Ableton Live's Beat Repeat plugin.
Beat Repeat is one of those plugins that's been included with Ableton Live since way back but often overlooked as it's not quite as straight forward some of the more recognisable effects. P-LASK's here to change that as he takes us through each of the controls in detail and shows us how to use Beat Repeat and get results.
Perfect for stutters, fills, pitch effects and randomisation, we check out some real-world examples of how to utilise this free tool in Ableton.
Check it out!

Thanks for this. Just one correction I need to point out, the trigger does not vary the variation, it sets when the variation is triggered.

Great video amd thanks for posting. FYI, people don't say "6th notes" nor '3rd' notes... The triplet note is the one that's faster than the stated note. So, in order from slowest to fastest - whole note, whole note triplets (very rare), quarter notes, quarter note triplets, eighth note, eighth note triplets, 16th notes, 16th note triplets....For future videos, '3rd notes' in this video = quarter note triplets (a little faster than quarter notes.... 3 notes in the space of 2). I hope you don't mind the unsolicited advice.

I’m going to start using “3rd/6th notes” in my daily vocabulary just to spite this comment.

1. I've always thought numbering beats from zero was much more intuitive than starting at one. Makes conversions between different time units much easier because you don't have to subtract one before your multiplication/division and then add it back afterwards. 2. I'm pretty sure the Trigger setting is just changing how often the Variation LFO is sampled, not changing the amplitude of it (i.e what the knob controls) as you are saying in this video. So setting Variation to zero doesn't 'bypass' the Trigger settings; they just naturally have no effect because 0*LFO = 0 regardless of the sampling frequency.

Anyone had a problem where the gate mode does not work in beat repeat... Where it just stops audio coming through (no original audio & no repeats) even when the chance is set to 100%????

I noticed the clamps and told my wife about it. "This guy has had cats knock his monitor over one too many times." I often have clamps holding my stuff together, too.
