This is really helpful. The simplicity is a revelation. Finding direct information about how to approach arrangement, especially in more obscure styles, is very difficult. I will watch every one of these you make.

Awesome! I was wondering, I know it's not really your style, but would you be able to cover some sampling tips in one of your future videos?
@bladeceek8 жыл бұрын
Definitely. I was thinking of doing one of the song at the beginning of this video. I sampled from vinyl, plugged a lil melody into sampler and repitched it to my liking. Thanks for the idea!

I really like the audio effect chain you have on the master, particularly how you take the width down. Really great tutorial.

I like the sidechain. In regular edm its a no no to have so much attack, but it makes that sound what it is.
@bladeceek8 жыл бұрын
I agree, Some people are anal about sidechain but for this style its a must. Gives the song more of a groove

man i wanna learn how to create those lofi beats but im just a beginner without a midi controller :( any tips ?
@hazevision73788 жыл бұрын
you don't NEED a controller - you can just draw notes and beats in the piano roll. alternatively, you can use your qwerty keyboard, if you absolutely have to, but it feels kinda awkward
@Chris-pk9ec6 жыл бұрын
can you let me know the name of your casette tape please??
@5XWAZM8 жыл бұрын
besides phonec 2, what other vsts do you recommend that would give a similar feel
@bladeceek8 жыл бұрын
Any synths recorded to tape then put into sampler will do man. Thats my favorite technique right now. Just buy a shitty tape recorder and make your own synths.
@MrNitrocification8 жыл бұрын
you should do a video where you show how to do the keys, like the crusty piano :P

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this how you're recording your piano samples?: Play a note with your keyboard Record that note with your tape recorder (this is where my question is) How are you getting the sound from your tape recorder to your DAW? Are you manually recording it through a mic? Hopefully that makes sense.
@bladeceek8 жыл бұрын
Pretty much, more specifically record a "C" note onto the tape recorder then bounce from the tape recorder's headphone output into my audio interface into ableton. Hope that makes sense!
@osirismarshall8 жыл бұрын
Ah, that makes much more sense now. Thanks for the help; your videos are tremendous brother!
@bladeceek8 жыл бұрын
No problem man! Fyi i have read interviews with Boards of Canada where they talk about recording from a tape player with a mic into theyre DAW so i guess theres not any rules except if it sounds good it sounds good!
@osirismarshall8 жыл бұрын
Yeah agreed. The variations are endless. Thanks again for the fantastic tutorial dog!

Does the synth sample came from phonec like in you're previous video ?
@bladeceek8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! im not too sure what synth i used for this sample, i think it may have just been ableton's stock piano plugin with some tweaking
