Look out for WWDC next month. Now that Apple has the M1 chip in the newest iPad Pro, it's almost certain that Apple will release Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro for iOS. And you can be certain that other DAW manufactures will follow suit. There is no need for an iPad with all that insane power that comes with an M1 chip unless Apple is planning on releasing their pro apps to the iOS platform.

Hi Sanjay. Great video as usual! I’d like to share a tip that I discovered trying sidecar with Live 11. If you enable the “pen tablet mode” in “Preferences-> Look feel” it solves the problem you are mentioning about pencil sensitivity for track volume and automation. Also the zoom display setting can be useful. It allows you to zoom in/out the ableton available working space on your iPad to adjust it to your personal preferences.

Studio One RC works great with (of course) Studio One. It’s not intended to be the primary tool for production, but does allow for some great workflow improvements. I’m sure Sidecar will improve quite a bit in the days ahead. It works on both iOS and Android tablets, and works with Studio One on either Mac or PC… and the tablet app doesn’t care what the main computer is running! I have an iPad for my Studio One RC and run Studio One on a PC

I was actually testing this a few weeks ago. I have a Windows PC but I made use of RD Client by Windows and I was able to get it working. It did require a bit more configuration (setting up a RDP) but it worked. Great video. Seriously.

I guess sidecar is still kinda limiting. But you can use TouchAble Pro and honestly I really like TouchAble to use it for adjust the volume mixer rather than using a mouse to adjust it.

I just wish we could get a full ableton app for iPad Pro. My IPad Pro has more power than my macbook, and literally the only reason I even use my macbook setup anymore is because of ableton. Logic Pro just released their ipad app and it’s pretty much the exact same experience as the computer version and I’ve actually debated switching over to Logic as my main DAW because of that. Starting a project or sketching out a musical idea on my ipad and then picking up and fleshing it out fully when I get home to my studio setup sounds incredible and if being an ableton user over a Logic Pro user is what’s holding me back from that, i might have to switch to logic.

Makes a lot more sense to use Windows. Microsoft Surface is great. Want a larger screen or don't want a Surface, use any Windows PC with any of a number of monitors with touch. And there are some monitor options that support both touch and pen. Also to get things to work with touch/pen properly, go to Preferences -> Look/Feel tab -> Pen Tablet Mode. Turn 'Pen Tablet Mode' ON. Now you can drag the the position of the sliders in the Mixer section as you want instead of having to click. This was pointed out in a KZbin video by Robin Vincent - ""Ableton Live 10 AbsoluteMouseMode is now Pen Tablet mode". This works on a Windows computer. I don't have a Mac.

When I first learning Live, I had put Lite on my MS Surface Pro 4 and selected tablet mode. It worked very well when all was said and done. It's a little disappointing that Mac users have to through all these hoops to do the same thing, now. Hopefully Ableton will make an ios version once the teething of the M1 ipads are mostly done.

Logic has a better architecture. Logic Remote for iOS is optimized for the iPad platform. Duplicating full DAW capabilities on an iPad doesn’t make sense to me. “Augmenting” your DAW with iOS apps is a better strategy. I use Logic Remote like a mixing console as a 3rd screen - it’s awesome.

Hey great video! I've run into some problems tho, everytime I activate Sidecar while Live is running I get audio cracking (similar to when CPU is high, but it's not). If I am not touching anything or audio is not playing, it seems to work fine. But as soon as I drag e.g. a plugin window to iPad, audio strats cracking and thus the whole thing becomes unusable to me :( is there a fix? I'm running Live 11 on MacBook Pro 2019, macOS 10.15

Yes, I did...and it really made my CPU usage spike as I mentioned in the video. Even more than adding any other type of secondary display
