I would like to say thank you for taking your time to make this video. Very informative!! I’m going to give this a try. as I have a few engines that have low compression.

I mix 25mL of Klotz to 500mL VP 30/9 for my ABN engines. Runs great and turns the fuel purple like the old Trinity Monster Horsepower. Also breaking in my USA-1 on it just cause. Keep burnin Nitro!!

Great explanation, I am restoring a GS racing Vision RTR and I think the little .12 is ABN based on the weight and colour. I could be wrong. So I will stay away from the 25% nitro race fuel and use my 10% or 16% nitro basher fuel. I’m only going to see if it starts, tune it and then sell it. It’s not like I’m going to the track with it or going to start it up 5 times a year. This won’t happen. Too many projects
@thebug40462 жыл бұрын
You can run the 25% just add a little extra castor oil

Bug I got a question for you. Just got a new dynamite .19 Mach 2 for my TMaxx I’m going to do the Adam drake break in on it. What do you suggest for how many turns out for the high speed and low speed needles for initial start up? I am using vp fuel 20% with 9% oil. Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
@thebug40463 жыл бұрын
Honestly I'm really not sure how many turns out that carbrator is or really anything about it other than I just tuned till they run properly every single one I've ever dealt with has always been different and my tuding is going to be way different than yours since my altitude is almost sea level and I and I also run a different fuel most of the time

My SH.18 I just bought has the ABN sleeve I did get a ABC sleeve for it if I want to run it how will it perform with a sidewinder backyard basher 20/16 blend? And how long will it last?
@thebug40462 жыл бұрын
Brake it in properly with some preheat like the Adam drake method burn that quart of fuel then switch to a better fuel with less oil. Around 10% oil is good. 16% is to much oil. Basher fuel is basically for people that don't know what they are buying. And if all is done properly should be able to get 10 gallons or so.

Ok so I have a new engine I wanna break in and way back when I was heavily into the hobby I was always told to break in a new engine with 12% oil or more I have a reds gen 4 721, should I still go that route or can I just use the 9% oil that I have and that will be fine ??? I know modern day stuff is different from how it was back then, or can I take my 9% and add 3% benoil to bring it up to 12% or am I just wasting my time ?
@thebug4046Ай бұрын
You can use 9% but a little extra Benol or blendzall green label castor added never hurt anything. You don't really need anything past 12% oil nowadays. I usually do the same thing for my engines 👌🏻😎
@jujudiazsrcthings5863 жыл бұрын
Wait so the castor oil film does that since the oil in like sidewinders per say I have no clue but therectically if it's 12 percent to much for a modern engine seeing it leaves a film and will take the nickel
@thebug40463 жыл бұрын
Sidewinder fuel is usually a 80/20 synthetic/case blend oil. But yes. The castor oil is what makes the ABN engines live. That being said you want to add some extra for them
@ashermorales82763 жыл бұрын
“I guess it’s only dangerous if you’re an idiot.” 😂 This is a helpful video. I run torco and it’s a good fuel but it’s 100% synthetic oil so I wanted to make some quarts of 15% oil (the original fuel is 10%) for some break-in fuel. I’ve got a couple engines with a pretty good amount of pinch and I want to make sure they’re well protected during break in.
@thebug40463 жыл бұрын
You don't really need to for new ABC engines but you can if you want
@ashermorales82763 жыл бұрын
@@thebug4046 one of the big factors in doing it is so the engine stays up to temp easier. Theoretically, more oil will hold the heat better because it’ll just sit in the crankcase. I’ve also heard that it helps expand the sleeve faster which mean it’ll break in faster but I haven’t been able to test that yet.
@thebug40463 жыл бұрын
@@ashermorales8276 this is true. The fuel we get around here is all 10% or higher oil we don't get much choice haha

When mixing your own nitro for 2 stroke glow/nitro engines... what ratio should you use for castor oil to synthetic oil to the rest that's used in the fuel (methanol/alcohol I think, nitromethane, and the rest...)? I've heard castor oil yes has amazing film strength but idk if you need just castor oil or a castor/synthetic mixture in your fuel, and I can't remember also... what synthetic oil does in your nitro engine (unless it adds cooling and rust inhibiting properties as well as anti-foaming with maybe a little extra over lean protection)? Btw I think I heard Byron fuels isn't making fuel anymore so thst sucks I heard lots of great things about it and always wanted to try some (brushless and lipo tech taking much of the glory nitro had over electric in terms of speed, and runtime.. BUT nitro still has the sound, smell, and gearhead appeal electric can't ever dare hope to touch! 😃 😊! )
@thebug40462 жыл бұрын
The oil i use most of the time is a 80/20 synthetic castor blend oil called klotz super techniplate i mix at 10% oil that's 12.8oz oil per gallon. And unless you can get your chemicals really cheap it's a absolute waste of time and money as it will end up costing you 100$+ to make one gallon a lot of old school fuel was made with only castor oil as there was no synthetic that would mix with methanol or nitromethane original glow fuel witch contains no nitro is just castor oil and methanol mixed at a 90/10 ratio or 80/20 depending on what your doing.

My stuff runs good on the master basher. I have gotten older engines that they did not run enough oil and it sure tears up the abn engines.
