Older video, but your vids have helped me learn so much. I am new to nitro and have been loving tinkering and tuning. Traxxas Slayer 3.3, running Sidewinder on road 20% and no issues so far. I've been looking at these exact LC3 glow plugs, so I appreciate the info!

Hey man glad to hear! And sidewinder is great fuel. We run the pro blend 30% and it rocks! The OS LC plug will give you better tuning stability and last a good long time over the Traxxas plugs 💯

Great video and a nice easy explanation! I just bought a T-Maxx 2.5 and have all kinds of heat problems. I bought 3 extra of the recomended glow plugs and the super special Traxxas fuel (20%), did the break in procedure but she runs hot. I have the tune set up pretty fat, 1/16 - 1/4 turn richer than the factory, out of the box break in tune, but it still gets crazy hot. Traxxas says that if the engines runing above 270 that you need to punch some holes in the body and I may still do that but I will certianly take your advice from this video also. 144 likes and no dislikes can't be wrong!! Thanks again!!

Get rid of the Traxxas fuel. It will be your problem. It has 18% oil witch is hard on your engine and also needs very lean tuning because the oil takes up fuel volume and will make it sensitive and run hotter. Run a 20 or 30% nitro with no more than 12% oil! Less oil takes richer tuning runs cooler and performs better. It doesn't hurt engine life as they try to tell you. At 10% oil is 12.8oz oil per gallon. Plenty there. And the the 2.5 seems to like to run a little warmer for whatever reason. Also don't tune by Temperature! Tune till running and performing its best!

Ooo you heard about the bones brew nice! I might give it a try soon since Byrons got decommissioned I hear many great things. I still got a gallon of 30% and a quart of the 25% sealed of the Byrons. Just recently bought some Sidewinder fuel from my LHS for my T-maxx 3.3. Went with that cause it was pretty cheap at $35 a gallon for 20%. Now in the store I thought it said it was 12% oil, but I must have misread it cause when I got home and went to fuel up the truck, I realized it's actually 16%. It had me a bit worried with that much oil content, but the engine tunes well, lots of smoke from the exhaust, plenty of power for wheelies, pretty good speed, and the engine hasn't been hotter than 220F at the glow plug. It is winter where I'm at right now and temps are usually in the 30s but I figure even in 90 degree summer weather it'd probably be topping out around 270, maybe a bit warm, not sure. I do notice though that this fuel seems to leave a bit of residue in the tank, which I haven't seen from other fuels, kinda strange but I'm guessing it's got to do with that high oil content. Anyway, I end up not liking it I can always switch fuels and retune accordingly, probably go back to Torco 20%, but having cheap fuel locally is really nice.

helo just a quick question here: im currently running 16% optimix which has 15% oil, idk if thats too much or not. I am however tempted to switch over to their race version fuel which has 10% oil instead, but it said on the description that is purposely designed for race engines and shouldn't be used on any rtr engines. So should i switch fuel or not?
@thebug4046
@thebug4046 3 жыл бұрын
The engine doesn't know any different. And you really don't want anything past 12% oil it has no benefits other than running leaner. 10% oil is perfect

bruh I just bought 2 quarts of Traxxas 33%... I use to run 20% 16% Byron and I was like hmm the oil content might be a bit high because the idle sounds a bit grumbly. Now im in for a treat. Maybe the higher nitro content will help? I cant believe i didnt check the oil content smh...
@thebug4046
@thebug4046 4 жыл бұрын
The 33% is 20% oil return it and get something better or order bones brew Top fuel has so much oil it's basically just aeroplane fuel it tunes horribly runs very lean and hot because of that the extra 3% isn't gonna help you with anything Grab yourself a good 30% with 9% oil It will tune amazing run cooler and overall be better for your engine Anything above 12% is a complete waste of time and money with 0 benefits to be had other than harder tuning Top fuel is made a very poor ingredients

I'm confused with all this I used ran a gallon of traxxas fuel through breakin and it ran normal it tuned pretty easy and then I ran about a quart of Byron's through my engine and I started having running issues I ran it at the dunes and it was 4.5 turns out on the high speed needle and it stopped and wouldn't run again so I didn't drive it for a few months and it was a bitch to start and before even after sitting for months it never had issues starting even in the winter time it would start within 5 seconds cold and this is all a trx3.3 also the Byron's fuel made it run the same temp as the traxxas fuel also my motor seems like it has an air leak now
@thebug4046
@thebug4046 3 жыл бұрын
Tuning by temperature means absolutely nothing run the exact same plug recommended switch fuel and enjoy tune until it's running its best and leave it. Keep your oil under 12% avoid Traxxas fuel or higher oil fuel you will be fine
