Wow. That hit me hard. Wonderful song, beautiful message. On a different note, I burst out laughing at the line "We've made it to the future, everything's not great". That may be the understatement of the year. Personally, I take comfort in impermanence- this will all pass.
@robertbrown52452 жыл бұрын
It may pass, but will it take all animal life with it? Animal life on earth has been cut in half over the last 50 years, I’m not sure we’ve got time left for people to just shrug and say, “meh, whatever”.
@seanb4472 жыл бұрын
@@robertbrown5245 You are absolutely correct. I've often said to my less environmentally minded friends " Have you seen "The Lion King"? That circle of life song is not a metaphor " Its a simple way of pointing out the complex interdepency of all living things and it seems to get the point across. I was a little boy in the 1970s and I remember how bad things were before environmental standards were improved.. It pains me to see us going backwards now.. Again, you're right, we can't just ignore the problem. As they say, there is no Planet B. There's a lot of music today that is puerile and nearly devoid of any meaning. Thank you for writing music that is meaningful, thought provoking, unique and just plain fun to listen to.

God, I wish every single musician and band would make a cover of this song and video and release them to be played all on the same day so that no one could avoid listening to it, seeing the facts, and hopefully having it register with them!
@westondavis16822 жыл бұрын
Neat video as most of theirs are, music great, but the message in this song is shallow. The situation is complex and most of these types of songs use the bases of facts to elicit an urgency responce otherwise the song would be hours long. The problem is that people with little understanding light their hair on fire and start shouting we have to do something now and never contemplate that the solutions can be worse than the problems or that panic makes them gullible to quick fixes that just transfers wealth and power to scam artists.

This song needs to be listened again and again and again..... And each new listening gets me to feel more and more sorry for ourselves as a humankind as well ashamed of being one of the humankind. As we humans should be the most intelligent life form here at Earth we should "be here to care for the garden" like is mentioned at Nightwish song "The Greatest Show On Earth". Instead of this it seems that we try to destroy our planet as effectively we can. Therefore this "Deep In Space" is more than suitable sequel to the mentioned Nightwish song to show us how everything - unfortunately - seems to turn to be... This isn't the first time - and won't be the last - when I do compare Abney Park to Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. These two bands has more common that it seems at first sight although they are playing totally different kind of music genres. Dear Captain & rest of HMS Ophelia crew, keep up the good work. Hopefully could see you to visit Finland at some point - although I fear that's very unlikely.

Hey guys! Thanks for this video, sound and video amazing! Some of the photos in your video were made in Ukraine, actually the few of them from Kharkiv and Odessa my home cities, and if I'm not wrong at least one from Mariupol, and it's absolutely amazing how you use them in this clip! I like the video, it's very artistic and shows some of our emotions. It was terrible when we woke up at 5AM in our homes from the sound of air attack and explosions, 'cause russia attack us, one explosion was near by my district and it sounds really loud and terrible, it's still hurt for me to see the fires on the territory where we have LARP games a few years ago, where we liked to travel... Some of the places where were defensive fortifications are right in the historical center on the city... I watch your video and see that people from all the world know what happening here and i feel this support! I like the sound very much and like the video highly! Thanks ❤️

Definitely makes me wanna write a song about an evil wealth gollum swinging iron fists of gold at a swarm of ants desperately (or viciously) trying to devour it as the two collective entities debate each other's right to exist at the expense of the other, only for us beyond the Fourth Wall to glimpse behind an illusion-spell and thus see that neither of these entities were at all what they superficially appeared to be. "The Rich" were not actually rich, and "The Poor" were not actually poor... And the heroes getting in the middle of it all were actually the war's provocateurs, casting the spell by projecting their own misunderstandings before them wherever they went-more or less like Don Quixote, but visualizing gold bars hidden in every peasant's bread box and then trying to confiscate them for charity.....as if he's going to take them to a legitimate charity, as noble-intentioned as his heart of hearts may be. 🙁 Beware-when "rich" just means half of a PB&J for lunch while beset with jealous adversaries who seem to believe that dividing you up infinitesimally will satiate the world's hungry like the miracle of "Loaves & Fishes". I know Robert was formerly an accountant decades ago (and made sacrifices for his music career that made his head hang low in the presence of more financially stable family), so I'm sure he saw an odd slice of humanity and that his outlook was shaped by them.... But I know people who are incorrectly categorized in their tax code and paying double what they should (thanks, NY) and that's enough to make me wonder about the whole condemnable picture 'the heroes who get in the middle of it all' are painting. 🤨 I guarantee you that Robert is still WAY better off financially than I am, but even I'll call it out as it's ludicrously SAVAGE to wanna consume enough to cripple people just to equalize your miserable lots in life. What a filthy ego trip. 😠 Poor people are not morally superior at all, they just have less material to screw up with-but one and the same appetites. Show me those who are self-satisfied instead of predatory, and I'll show you a demographic with a golden caricature plastered over its face and target on its back. 🤔 I'm sure that's what the population on the uninhabitable half of the planet was like before the predatory half of the population wiped them out and continued to squabble amongst themselves over the vanishing scraps. If you're not self-satisfied in the material sense, because you egotistically imagine that most other people have it easier than you do and you're always hustling for infinite compensation, then you're not simply broke, you're an agent of scorched-earth just bent on making other people poor as envy-stained, delusional payback. 🤨 I don't care who owns how much compared to me; "equity" is like getting a surgeon involved in a d*k-measuring contest... Now THAT'S corrupt. Thank God most people like that can't afford to do worse. The poor rarely understand that the hunger of avarice doesn't go away no matter how much wealth you accrue. Would Robert be materially satisfied if he owned a yacht like his relatives? (If I'm remembering his very old Facebook post correctly.) I can't speak for Robert, but I doubt it. Trying to be a revolutionary is a lot more exciting, even if it takes mischaracterizing the situation and the 'wealth-gollum' (still fellow human beings) whom you glorify victimizing, like a piñata full of ambiguous resources and coin. 😔 Whatever happened to the Steampunk cardinal-virtue of Resourcefulness-of fearlessly constructing extraordinary DIY-wealth out of discarded parts? 🤔 It is NOWHERE in this song, that makes champions out of THE OPPOSITE of being inventively self-sufficient.

Instead of going for the low-hanging fruit everyone else goes for; instead of bashing us for (allegedly) destroying the planet and "oppressing" each other... How about a song celebrating the 200,000 year miracle of our existence? How about celebrating the men who made it possible for you to write such a song, compose such a song, perform such a song and disseminate it across the globe? "We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty" - Malcolm Reynolds. This miserable ball of rock has tried to wipe us out for nearly a quarter million years, and in spite of its hostility or indifference, we not only survived, we thrived. So how about being really different, and instead of promoting the false narrative that we're a plague on existence, how about a song reveling in our unique greatness of all the life on this planet? Nah, that's too much to ask.
