Roy Wulf is pleased to be a member of Ship's Company, a living history organization dedicated to the preservation of the American maritime heritage. To create this little story about life in the Civil War Union Navy, we took some video recently at a Ship's Company event aboard USS Constellation (Historic Ships in Baltimore, MD). We combined this with video taken at the USS Monitor Center (The Mariner's Museum and Park, Newport News, VA) and some clips from the 1936 Civil War film "Hearts in Bondage." The fife and drum music in the video is audio of Claude Bauer and Roy Wulf on fife and Joey Kaye on drum recorded at another Ship's company event aboard USS Constellation. We hope you enjoy this story of a "powder monkey" in the Civil War Navy, inspired by the actual historical figure Aspinwall Fuller.
