Cody, I saw your dual survival series a year ago for the first time, and was inspired and amazed by your philosophy of "human" survival, and survivability. I think your an inspiration to us all, and I am grateful for your informative and innovative methods. I thought I would drop a message on this old video. I remember seeing Cody in person at a Hastings book store in Prescott, Arizona when I lived there about 20 years ago. Cody. I'm moving to Thailand this year to help out a friend. The plan; set up a water harvesting unit in a certain village. Question, How do you treat a 10,000L Tank of stored rain water for consumption? A continuous level of chemicals? A passive chemical system? PH checks? so much to consider. Peace, Love & Light. Rich

Cody has his own "Earthship". I wonder if he knew or heard of Mike Reynolds. 2:30 "parabolas of rebar." Most of the people that watched Dual Survival and worked on Dual Survival wouldn't even know what parabolas are. Awesome Cody! Didn't catch what your power source was? Also, how did you find and acquire the land? Was the land cheap there?
@sethhersch14 жыл бұрын
@vwcoop Actually, most of the reason solar is even economical for the average household is because many utilities companies buy power back from consumers at twice to four times the rate charged. Of course, if you're not grid-tied, you don't get this benefit. You either have a household surplus or you don't -- being grid tied means you don't have to have batteries and you don't have to burp off the surplus. You actually get paid for the excess.

Does anyone know what the knife was that Cody carried in the latest Dual Survival "eat my dust"?? Where they are in the salt flats of Sonora? It isn't his mora, it has a, what looks to be wood handle, and the sheath has a metal guard strip along the edge side of the sheath. I think it maybe is Swedish made, but that is only my opinion. I was quite surprise to seNice knifee him use a differnt knife, but we never got a direct look at it up close! See Dave carrying the Habilis Bushtool?

I sort of understand the South Facing idea, since we are in Northern Hemisphere, he is trying to capture the sun's rays through the southern facing windows. But can someone explain Thermal Mass? Is it something to do with retaining the heat from the day and insulating it, keeping it inside the home during the night?
@shananagans510 жыл бұрын
Thermal mass is simply warming up a large amount of material. The more mass you have warmed up the longer it will stay warm. Thick concrete or dirt walls, once warm, will stay warm longer than a thin wood wall.
