We visit the Florida Caverns State Park in Marianna Florida. It's a large underground cavern system filled with amazing stalactite formations everywhere! This place was discovered back in the 1930's when someone noticed an opening near a fallen tree. Can you imagine being one of the first to find a place like this?

Nice Caverns and looks similar to Tuckalechee Caverns in Townsend, Tn.. It's near Cades Cove, Smokey Mountains, and Gatlinburg. Wonder if they had a restaurant up top and you could be served food down in the Caverns?

Too funny "caves are above ground and have bears, caverns are below ground and have bats"....LOL

Crazy to think that one of the lowest states in the US has caves In it. I was just there on the Saturday before I put this comment. I can tell you they are epic.

Reminds about botanic garden here minus the cavern. As always nice video, but a bit dark.....which is understandable perhaps....

It was kinda funny that when you were explaining what the difference between a cave and a cavern was......there was a sign right behind you that said "Cave Entrance". Lol. And that's why there is confusion.....just sayin.....;)

Wow guys, I just discovered this channel. I've been watching your machinist vids for a long time. I was born in Marianna. I remember the caverns real well. I was about 8 years old the first time I went there. I had a distant cousin (whom I don't remember) who with some buddies crashed the caverns late one night back in the 50s. 2 of the boys made it out and 2 never were found (my cousin didn't get out, maybe you met his ghost, LOL). Later we moved to my grandfathers farm just a few miles from falling water. Sorry, I don't have any weird stories of that, mostly because it was not open to the public when I was a kid in the 50s. I've since visited the park and enjoyed it very much. My grandfather's old farm is now a pine forest, but I did manage to find the ruins of the house, the outhouse and the corn crib. Across the road, my baby sister is buried in the cemetary, reason enough for me to get over there every year. In another video, you visit my current town, Daphne Alabama. I live less than a mile from Alligator Alley. As a kid we used to pester the gators all summer long. These days you get arrested for that. Small world huh? Enjoy you vids, both in the shop and out. Regards, John

Easiest way to remember the names of the rock formations is to think of ants in your pants: "The mites go up and the tights come down."

68 degrees is warm compared to the few caverns I visited. Usually about 50 degrees. If you ever get a chance visit Merrimac Caverns in Mo. or Mammoth in Ky. Neat Video.

Considering it being about 95 out and high humidity, not too bad.

Nice. They don't update their webpage daily though. Even if it doesn't rain there but rains up north water floods cavern so they close it. Call before you go. Also door to it I can't tell if it is locked Open. What if some one shut and locked door from outside?. Fun video thanks for posting.

Awesome. It's always fascinating to see what lies beneath our feet, especially if it has a 'Journey to the Center of The Earth' look to it.

That’s awesome. I grew up in Panama City and have been there a couple times. I think it’s at 6:40 and again at 16:02 but there is a little pool that is in the shape of South America.
