Back about 1975 or so my now ex and I got caught in a snowstorm in the Laguna Mountains. We were caught at a restaurant near the summit and had to ride my Honda750 down the hill into San Diego. Middle of winter.... even San Diego can get cold. Fortunately it doesn't happen too often but riding on 2 wheels in the snow was a scarey trip. We were so happy when it turned to rain!!

Man i love the snow! The evening of the first good snow fall no cars on the roads, its eerily quiet from the snow absorbing all the sounds you normally hear in day to day life, and all you can hear is the snow hitting ground and the crunch with each step. you've got a fresh coffee or Hot chocolate to keep you worm...

Can remember when I was a mere young lad that it snowed one night and we had heavy winds causing the snow to drift up against the house It was that deep I had to crawl out the second storey bedroom window and slide down the drift to ground I then dug a tunnel back to the front door so everyone could get out without the all snow getting into the house Also when winter comes we put vaseline on the vehicle door rubbers to prevent them being torn off when we open the doors I am saying this because I could hear the ice cracking when you opened your vehicle windows Enjoy the snow Adam as when it starts to melt and turns to slush things start to get really messy Have Fun Pete uk

We used to get snow like that every winter in the 60's and 70's in the north country (northern NY on the St. Lawrence River) i can remember going round back of the barn to get in because the snow would drift up to the peak of the roof in front.

9:05 I worked several years in Valdez (we pronounce it Val dees) Alaska at the tanker terminal for the Alaska Pipeline. Several times during the winter in the morning there would be four to five feet (not inches) of snow on the truck. Took a while to get it ready to roll. Snow canyons would form along the roads where the snow was 8 to 10 feet high on each side (due to drifting, mostly).

Pretty normal for Colorado....I lived there for many, many years and saw snow in every month including July and August. Get a spray bottle and fill with 50/50 water and 70% alcohol to spray your windshields on the outside....defrosts them almost instantly.

Hey Adam, Abby... Welcome to the "snow" family! Having been born and raised in Quebec, Canada - I'm used to super-deep snow in the Winter, and where I am - we can sometimes see 100+ days for weeks during the summer... But that being said, seeing snow noobs so absolutely enjoy experiencing their first taste of Winter Wonderland - it's a pleasure to share that with you. Your video is a beautiful reminder of what it means to truly enjoy the wonders of winter (even though it's barely fall.. lol)... It reminds me that snow isn't just a massive pain to deal with, but that it's truly a beautiful sight to behold in the best of times... So peaceful... Now - as far as driving in it is concerned, especially since you're from Florida - a small hint... Your tires are NOT going to react as you thought they would... You've got a great truck, lots of weight, 4WD and all the bells and whistles for traction. But your tires below 40 degrees are going to react like Fred Flintstone tires... It's just the nature of the rubber compound in the cold - they're just going to be a lot harder than normal. Let alone you won't have the best tread design for slippery roads with snow, ice, etc. You're an excellent driver from what I can see, so take it from your northern neighbor - just add another 20-25% of following distance to your normal driving habits in this kind of weather, along with longer, more gentle stopping lengths... This way you'll be able to drive out of any surprises that pop out on the road conditions. More with that trailer attached. In cold, slippery weather - the key is to always leave enough distance in front of you to drive around something when stopping normally just isn't an option anymore. I'm a big fan of you and Abby and I hope this advice will help keep you both safe on your travels.

I was thinking the same thing. My first time visiting Minneapolis in the winter, I borrowed my boss's truck and drove around an empty industrial park on the weekend to learn how to drive in the snow. When a cop asked what I was doing, I just explained that being from Anaheim I hadn't driven in snow before so I thought it would be safe to learn in a big empty parking lot. The cop drove off laughing and I continued to spin the truck. 😉
