Aboriginal - Grass Dance - Canada National Aboriginal Day Celebrations 2010

This Dance performed by A J Elliot, was a delightful experience, and it truly makes me appreciate the heritage of the land and our history as Canadians. Native Dancing carries with it many different messages and is a very important part of our culture.

i just wanted to say that this dance is to respect mother nature by stomping on the grass for other dancers without hurting the grass. Thats the main reason this dance is still here today.

NaTiVe_StUd42 Don't wanna bust your bubble but this isn't that dance actually, I am a grass dancer and there are a lot of different stories like this. This dance is the grass dance you got that right but his spreader (piece on his head) has antennae and means his dance originated by warrior societies, the antennae were so all the warriors could see each other's along the tall grass line the story you told would mean if he had an eagle feather spreader just fyi

Grass dance originaly is from the omaha people, it is was to represtent how the grass looks when it's in the wind. This dance was used before other dancers to flat the grass. Or for battles with other tribes, then it was used by war partys and is now a warrior dance.
