Wow you've really changed my perspective and understanding of archery stores, mainly the amount of pressure their under the satisfy a small market with a large variety of stock.

Consider too that the archery market is skewed towards hunters and compound bows, which makes the available products and support less likely for a target recurve shooter.

Just came across this post, and it seems interesting and the accompanying comments, to see that not much of anything has changed.

All of the local shops are entirely hunting centric. When asking about recurve bows most simply didn't have anyone who knew anything about them, and one who said "I don't think they even make those any more." I brought my recurve bow in to use their lanes and hopefully get a little instruction and they simply badmouthed the bow talking about how it was inferior to compound bows, the tried to convince me to buy a $600 bow. I find recurve shooting much more rewarding, but the local area is dominated by compound shooters, and of those compound shooters a large number are snobs who consider price tag to be the sole measure of an archer. That said I think recurve is catching on with younger people thanks to a lot of recent movies and TV shows prominently featuring recurve and traditional archers. A few people now have asked me about recurve shooting, and your channel has been great for gathering information, so while I'm still not all that good, I hope I can help by being a good representative of recurve archery. More recently one shop started stocking at least a few entry level recurves. It's not much, but it's a start.

Hi There, If I may. I am the old owner of Findit Archery Supplies, and I would like to apologize to any that read this comment that used to use our services. And I would also like to put something to bed. Findit came into being due to demand not because I had a plan to start a archery shop. I actually had a really successful hardware business. Findit Archery was not a perfect shop but we did the best with what we could do. We grew very very fast and we tried to be as honest as we could to every customer. Findit was never aimed at Hunters nor the hunting market but we would source products for them if they required. But what I can say is that lets be honest what Findit did for the Archery world in Australia was force alot of the other companies to lower their prices and get real. I know that we took a long time to get goods to people, but please understand that there were forces at play that many people did not about and we did the best that we could against those forces. When I closed the doors to our company 3 years ago and to my honest knowledge every customer of Findit was either paid a full refund or their goods were sourced. If we did burn you and you can supply proof that you were not refunded or goods supplied please contact me directly at sfg17@live.com. No i do not shoot anymore but no matter what anyone's op-ion of me as an individual is, I can honestly say that we ran an honest business, and tried to give archers what they needed at the time. Thank you for your time people.

I really enjoy that you share your thoughts and experiences about some of the .. hmm.. ancillary aspects / topics of archery. Thanks. We will all have to accept that archery and archers(?) are not mass-market. I kinda like that.

I just compared the price of the Win & Win Winnex 25" riser between Abbey Archery and the US based Lancaster. Lancaster US$440 + $63-72 delivery = US$502-512 or AU$572-582. Abbey has it for AU$600. I live about 20 mins drive away from Abbey so I can go there and pick it up myself. For $20-30 difference, I'd rather support the local store. Although it's probably safe to say that there will be items that Abbey won't have in stock.

So far i have not bought anything offline, i always go into the store, either Maverick archery or OZbow & hunting. i find OZbow have better knowledge overall for either hunting/comp shooting in all disciplines Recurve/trad/compound ect they also stock a wider variety of brands. Maverick is more of a target/comp shooting store, extremely knowledgeable about PSE and Easton but not much else. i would recommend them for buying any arrows or target sights as they seem to know alot more and have a wider range. just my 2cents.

I have a friend that works in an electronics shop and they face many of the same problems for example with just an iphone there are white, black, pink, gold models and a long with that there are 16GB 32GB 64GB models so with just an iphone there are 12 lines and its always a headache when there are 5 black ones in stock but the customer wants a white one. And the 5 black ones are aging inventory and as soon as the next iphone arrives they drop like half their value.

So I checked out a store called centreshot in uk. They have very good prices for recurve limbs and riser. I wonder if it's legitimate? Also thearcheryshop in uk too have very good prices. Compared to big companys like lancaster these prices are too good. Do anyone have experience with these stores?

I recently bought a supply of archery equipment, from Abbey archery, and after filling in the forms, it came up with a blank page with the words AGENT DONE, and when I checked my order history, the order wasn't there. Is this normal for Abbey Archery?

I've had that happen to me at least once. Their online system has a few glitches, and is relatively new (they only changed over this year), so there are some issues. There was one time when my credit card payment went through but my order did not, so I had to contact the shop and cross-check the prices of what I bought with what I had paid - which didn't help when I had a lot of items and the prices were different from those listed on the online store. I've become less confident with their online platform, more so because they don't list what they have in stock, so it's a bit of a gamble. Regarding your issue try using another browser.

So i should re-submit my order using chrome or firefox? Or just wait to Monday and call them up?
@NUSensei
@NUSensei 9 жыл бұрын
Call them up (or check your credit card balance). If you call them, you may as well place the order, since you can check whether they have it in stock. They're really good at calling you back to let you know, but you can find out right away if you order by phone.

Yeah - this sort of thing is not an industry problem but an inattentive mistake. It's human error and it happens, and a good store will show the value it places on its customers based on how they follow up with errors.My favourite archery store once shipped out my order to the wrong address. The ordered clearly specified my home address, but the postal service indicated that it arrived at its destination in a completely different suburb. I assumed they had sent to my alternate address (which was on their customer database), but a phone call to them revealed that they didn't keep a record of exactly *where* they had posted it to. Fortunately I was right and retrieved my package, but that could've been a big screw-up in a different context.

They're both from Zwickey, and probably all packaged similar, I suppose it can get confusing and it's easy to make mistakes. I expect an answer somewhere next week, asking me to send the broadheads back so I can receive the Judos. I sent them a mail explaining the situation, I'll just have to wait and see now.
@NUSensei
@NUSensei 10 жыл бұрын
I think perhaps it's not confusion over packaging but a mistake reading the order. It's probably more common to order 6 + 1 broadheads than 1 broadhead and 6 Judos.
@nephildevil
@nephildevil 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that may also be true, but it's hard to find Judos anywhere around here. I hope they just go ship me what I need now, so I can get on with it. Otherwise I'll have to look further and end up ordering outside Europe and pff by the time I finally have Judos summmer'll be over lol

Alexander Torres The point is that you'll come across that problem at some point regardless of which store you buy from. The difference is how they handle their customer service. Some sellers are good with being flexible with other options or providing free shipping; others make a huge mess out of a routine order of a simple item. Most stores will refund your purchase if you ask for it. Those that don't - they're the ones to avoid.
