It's good sense, always thought it was a bit of a risk showing the kids, not least because some people get fixated and weird really easily. I made a comment about liking a video game, someone found my email and spent a year just sending me a daily death threat, links to obvious gore or death videos, pictures of corpses, at the end of each month a question why I wasn't dead yet and some tips on how best to kill myself. Yeah... That for a whole year.

I'm about to "Assume" the Male Role for my 12 yr old Grand Daughter. Her dad preferred Meth and Meth Ho's to being married and raising their Girls. I have a new born Filly, bor this past Summer, who needs Handling and Gentling, so I've "Conned" my Grand Daughter into spending her Summer "Helping Me" gentle this fine little Filly, in the hope that I can point her in another direction than the one her older Sister is Hell Bent on taking. In doing so, I hope to teach her "Horsemanship" along with Patience, Honor, Discipline, and Always keeping a Promise, even if you Hate it. Kinda "The Cowboy Code" but adapted to an at risk Little Girl. This isn't 2 strangers meeting. I've known and Adored her since Birth, and even tho I Love all 5 Grand Kids(None By Blood, but By Marriage #3 that didn't work), but I Raised the two Step Daughters from early Teens, and have a Solid Relationship with Both, and all the Gr Kids Love Papa & know he Brooks No Bullshit, so it ain't gonna be a TV Movie scenario, just my Busted Up Old Cowboy Ass trying to show this Youngun that she has Options in life & one of them is to be a Cowgirl if she wants to. Her Gentling and eventually Breaking this Filly to Ride, is what will make that decision for her. If she does it and loves that Filly like I assume she will, the Filly is already Hers.....She just doesn't know that part of it yet.....I Mean, How Cruel would it be to put her thru all the work that it will take and leave her with nothing but a "Thank You"? Hell, I'm 73 with a total of 7 Horses, besides the Filly, so it ain't like I'll be making a Big Sacrifice, by just giving her the Filly. I just want to make sure she has the Love Of The Sport Of Horse Ownership, Breaking & Training, and if she does, she'll inherit all my Horses, Tack, My 60 year old Saddle(I got it when I was 13) that's been All Over America more than several times, and strapped to God Knows how many Horses in my Misspent Youth as a Bronc Stomper & All Round Horseman. It's gonna be an "Interesting" Summer, and Afterward Wish me luck and a few Prayers wouldn't go unappreciated either

I hope that does not sound strange because I just enjoyed seeing what strong family looked like and how it should be all around the world. It also made me happy to see that great family life still happen in the world when everything feels like its getting torn down BUT I 100% agree and understand why you would not want to have your family on the chan as they start to become young adults. While most of your viewers like myself harbour no ill intent towards you or fam it's sad to say that their are people out there that harbour bad intent and it only takes one of those types to ruining someone life. So you have been a bright light in the storm for many of us that are fans and hopefully that always remains so.

!00% agreed and same for me too. I know I'll likely die alone partly due to my health and the fact that I don't want to risk being in a toxic relationship which is so common these days, but this and other family vlog channels got me out of depression and kept me going. Thankfully though, I made a new close friend a few years ago who keeps me happy and don't need vlogs to keep me going anymore. But I do still miss them. It isn't just this channel that did it either. In fact I think when the incident with the Atwood's happened, that seemed to trigger Matt's family right away (and likely several others too) as he changed how he ran his channel right away. I fully understand and agree with Matt's decision and am kind of surprised he didn't do it sooner. And yes, we will all miss Mere's very contagious laugh and unique personality.

As much as I loved seeing the videos of you all together as a family, I think you definitely made the right choice here. There is a line that has to be drawn at some point in time when you have a family and also a career or activity that puts you out there in the spotlight. There needs to be that separation between personal and public life, especially as the kids are getting older. I have friends in various entertainment fields who have had major issues with people who may have had no ill intentions, but who refused to understand that just because someone is out and about in public, it does not mean they want random people invading their space wanting pictures, autographs or just to chat, and it's often hard to convince them that you need your down time with family and friends. With the kids, especially the girls, getting older, there is also a big concern about the wrong kind of person fixating on them, because we all know that, while the majority of us who come and watch your videos have come to respect and care for you and your family, there are also come pretty nasty people out there on the internet and in the real world. So taking the spotlight off of the kids takes away a lot of risks and will allow them to just enjoy being kids and not mini celebrities with no privacy. So, while I will really miss those family moments, I totally respect the choice you and Meredith made to protect your kids.

Thank you for protecting your family! I thought the same thing a long time ago. As much as at times its probably lots of fun for them to be in videos. Children need to have a normal home life. I really thought about it when you got the armored suburban. Even got them body armor. I was glad that you were thinking about protecting them. I'm glad the kids are going to be safe, though not getting to see as much of Matt's love for his kids is the one downside to this, the joy over the rope swing building project and so many of the earlier projects like the chicken coop water system etc, hope we still get to see the projects but at the same time I'm glad you're still doing building projects with the kids as they grow like the recent chicken coop build etc

It would be cool if you could even set up the burnt building with lighted patio for the Solar Eclipse as well as the camping. Nice big bonfire area for the weekend.
